Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He's underrated in every aspect of his game.

I mean this twat Tweeted this during the game yesterday after he passed the ball with the outside of his boot for Son to get the first goal (OG)..............

It got 7.5k likes. Comments literally filled with abuse and arseholes banging on about him claiming goals off his shoulder etc..

He's the England Captain!!! He's one of the best CF's in the World. Apart from Spurs fans he is genuinely hated up and down the country. Sky interviewed him post-match and ask him to talk through whether he dived for a penalty or not live on air, they have NEVER done this for Vardy, Salah, the gimp mask-wearing twat up the road.

When he's not scored for a period longer than two games he's instantly questioned about his ability, whilst same pundits lord it over Loftus -Cheek & Abraham the following week proclaiming they're better even though their GPG ratio is below average for a player in that position.

There isn't a more underrated and disrespected player kicking a football today.

Yup agree, ridiculous over reaction. Just because you can tweet doesn't mean you should. Sad example of 'tear them down' syndrome when there's basically nothing to criticise.

The only thing I can think of in terms of Kane - and this obviously isn't a criticism of him - is in the social media age he doesn't provide an easy narrative to jump on or build up, e.g., no rags to riches story. He just appears to be a quiet but driven guy going about his business. We know he's a family guy and that's about it, which IMHO is the ideal aura to exude especially in this day and age. But as I wrote above different people have different ways of going about things, that isn't offered as a personal criticism of other footballers.

The thing is if you've been in the football bubble since 8yrs old, there is nothing else, unless your early life was spent in a refugee camp in Somalia or somewhere 80% (complete guess) of footballers today have a more or less identical background. (Joined academy 6,7,8yrs, went through the ranks, went on loan, already on £200k per year at 16yreas old, were shit or good, breakthrough under "key manager", first-team regular, get national team call up (if good enough), transfer, big wages, start to decline, a final contract in MLS, become a pundit or coach and still earn millions per year doing either.

Christ £200K per year at 16! Can safely say I'd probably be dead if given that kind of money at that age.

That's unbelievable! to me that tweet just smacks of the kind of hipster who thinks its cool to like footbal these days but has never actually played it and understands it even less.

With regard to the media I think ELH is probably right when he says Kane is just too nice, and dare I say, white. theres no angle for them to create their stories.

Anyone care to try to translate this?

Manager Jose Mourinho said Tottenham Hotspur striker and England captain Harry Kane, 26, would "not be so special playing for another team" when asked about the player's future. (Sky Sports)

"He wouldn't fit in as well at another club,so is going nowhere"

At least thats how i'm taking it.
That combined with Harry's status at Spurs.

At any other club he would be a big name. Here he is THE big name. He is special because he came through our system and is now one of the best in the world leading his boyhood team on the field. A sort of player that is rather rare in this day and age.

Very rare, but will his loyalty last forever.
I do worry that he is looking at his goal record and then at his empty trophy cabinet.
We need to win something next season.

Sorry to put a downer on things people

A sweeping figure on my part but one that I don't think is too far off the mark when you take into consideration City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Woolwich & Man U academy Sum are paid way, way more than this and some get all manner of packages dished out for the wider family with houses, cars and jobs etc.

My Godson grew-up with Loftus-Cheek (he lived across the street), the pair of them would play football every single day after school. RLC was already at Chavs, with what appeared to be with hundreds of other kids (obvious exaggeration but it's mental what is going on down there), my Godson was by a long way better than him, hand on heart miles better than him, but he wasn't overly interested at becoming a pro-footballer, despite this Chelsea knew of him via Rubens Dad and he had him train and play for them several times. They (Chava and Rubens Dad) pursued him relentlessly which I think ultimately turned him off them even more (again he wasn't in that mindset then). His old man (my mate) tried to sit him down and get him to focus but he wasn't going to force him into something he didn't want to do.

Right about this time, they are about 16 I think, Ruben and his family knocked on the front door to say his goodbyes as he was moving to Cobham, having been given a house, accepted a bunch of singing on fees and other bonuses that would see him collect about £2m if all paid out. They set up his old man as an "agent" for which he was paid "a few hundred grand" for getting the deal signed with Chelsea which also meant they had stuffed RLC actual agent at the time who had originally negotiated with Chelsea on his behalf. He was 16!!

He has indeed :mourshock:

Ah, he got his first hattrick for the club that night I believe.

Star.

Maybe Harry got fed up waiting for Levy to sign an understudy...
16 years and a bit from now, Harry Kane playing his final season before retiring, seemingly trophyless - until then. Domestic treble and a Champions League win... with Father and Son Kane sharing the goals in the most glorious of campaigns.

Hope I’m not dead to see it, mind.

:kanehand:

Oh, fuck this planet. Someone has already tried turning the comparison into a "racist" thing.

Seems like it doesn't actually matter what you're comparing or whether it's a perfectly valid comparison: if it's between a white person and a non-white person, someone somewhere will shoehorn in a complaint.

When people cite racism when there is none, it just gets people's heckles up and undermines real cases.
