Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Kane is not the issue but excuses are too readily made when he fails to make the difference in key games.

What is true is that in the most important games we don't make as many opportunities as we should.

I think it's also clear that Kane needs better quality around him to have the kind of impact that many think he has.

He will score goals if he leaves for City/United but will he do the Business in their biggest games?

I honestly think the jury is still out on that but we may soon find out unless we have a very big summer of transfer activity, a change of manager and a bout of Levy stubbornness.

What excuses? He's scored in lots of big games. He's been man of the match in some.

If he joins a better club with better players like City or PSG his stats will be even better. That's simple logic.

He hasn't in the Biggest games. Not going through this again. It's abundantly clear or we would have trophies.

And I don't equate that simply to scoring goals but impact.

If Kane goes to PSG then he is chucking his career away in my opinion.

He can become a PL legend hopefully with us but definitely if he stays in the PL, not that I will be one of those weird Spurs fans who say they would wish him well. Judt fcuking bizarre.

Going to Paris would be remarkably short sighted.

If he wants trophies then a move to PSG makes perfect sense, I don't think that's the only thing he's looking for though. But Pochettino being there certainly makes it more plausible.

Outside of Messi and Ronaldo I don't think anyone produces time after time in the biggest games. I don't see anyone here, as good as he is, putting him on the same level as either. Maybe you can say Lewandowski, but he also plays for a team on a completely different level to ourselves.

Harry has been carrying the team for a while now. We haven’t been at the races for a few years now in terms of winning trophies so all a bit academic there.

If you’re going back to when we did have a team that should have been winning trophies, he tended not to prosper in the biggest games. Non event in the 2019 European Cup Final, big missed chance the season before at Wembley when we went out to Juventus, 2018 FA Cup Semi Final against Man U and scoring from open play in just 1 out of 10 so called ‘Big 6’ League games in 2016/17 the season we went closest to winning the league with 86 points.

He may well have evolved as a player who will now score in those big games if he’s showcasing his talents with a better club. The way Mourinho has them playing and the weaknesses of the team does mean that chances are at a premium against the top sides in the bigger games.

Kane Missed 2 sitters against Liverpool from recollection.
Probably more than that but I'm just to fed up t think about it
Which went hand in hand with the two sitters Berg misssd

Blame the manager for other things yes but you can’t legislate for things like that
Comfortable victory chance lost imv

We were dead and buried before Kane calmly rounded Buffon and slotted home in the away leg. How can you just overlook that? The tie should have been over when Son scored. Not reacting to their changes and having Davinson Sanchez cost us that tie.

We didn't win the league in 2016/17 because of Kane's first injury that season which coincided with a spate of draws. Games between big teams are often quite tactical affairs, for example the home game Vs Chelsea you would say Kane "bottled" it or "didn't show up", when in fact he played quite a selfless game of occupying defenders to create space for Dele to go up against their shortest defenders, which led to both goals. The nuances of football are often lost on the FIFA generation where it's now become commonplace for strikers in one or two team leagues to score practically every game and have a goal a game average. Getting 30+ goals in the PL remains rare and an exceptional acheivment.

Well we would disagree on that.

Benzema arrives, Suarez has on occasion, Salah to an extent in defining games, Vardy did. I could go on.

Either way my point is made whether people agree or disagree is entirely their choice.

I know Kane is top drawer but I don't think he has shown he delivers at the moment when it matters most.

Not changing that view until and if it changes, which may come if and when he leaves. He won't however find many better teams than the one we had 3 or 4 years ago - nada, or necessarily have another CL final performance- nada.

If he stays I hope it happens. If he goes I don't give a sh!t.

Nice job nitpicking 5 teams there! 1st, 3rd, 5th,6th, 9th.

Why didn’t you just pick the top 5 teams? Doesn’t prove your point as much?

GTFO with this bull.
yup, finally tipped that WUM onto ignore, so weird all these so called spurs always ragging on the best player we've ever produced (takes a lot for me to give him that mantle over Hoddle, but he's there now for me).

It's a truly pointless argument to have with the disciples of Sammyism. You can point out that in 2015/16 Kane scored:

Opening goals away to Woolwich, Chelsea and Man City.

The go ahead goal Vs Woolwich at home.

The equaliser away to Liverpool.

Also scored at home Vs City.

Their response is, "Yeah but he bottled it home and away vs Leicester". Even though Leicester weren't considered genuine title challengers when we played them.

If Kane chooses to leave for Man U he’s dead to me. Not sure how the rest of you feel. City I could live with and their dirty oil money but United and Golem the PE Teacher. Fuck off.

As bad as Sky Sports and the scum media want it to happen I’d respect it if Levy applied a scorched earth policy stopping that transfer from ever happening. Kane has 3 years remaining and I don’t give a fuck if people want to wave him off with their blessings. He needs to suck it up and deal with it.

Go overseas, yep, go but stay and play for the theatre of plastic fans - no. you’d just be like how I feel about Berbatov - could have been a legend but walked away. It isn’t 2008 anymore.

If man united are willing to pay 150 million why does it matter? End of the day its up to harry kane if wants to go, he deserves better.

I cant see harry leaving england, he wants shearer's record and hes got a young family..

Levy needs to invest in the team this summer and show kane theres a future.

There a cult of ‘Get Harry out of his Spurs for his own good’ emerging here which is as annoying as the cult of Mourinho.

Levy’s only concern is what’s best for Spurs. Hopefully that’s Harry saying rather than offloading to a crowd financed by Qatari human rights abusers or to Man U who are having to their longest trophy drought since the late 1980’s.
Sorry but I respectfully disagree with your opinion of levy's motive. IMO, he's only interested in the money side of things. Making Harry Harry stay in an underachieving sloppy boring team is disrespectful arrogant and self serving. I don't want to see him go either but I also think he's earned the right to move on if he so wishes .
Don't bother with the "disagree". I'll take it as read.

Ferguson said it himself - Levy is only interested in what's best for Tottenham. clear from the doc - he didn't want to sell Eriksen, he wanted him to stay and would match wages elsewhere. United offered more for Madrid than Bale and Levy still accepted Madrid offer.

Levy only sells players when they are determined to leave. Levy accepted less from Madrid for Modric than Chelsea offered a year earlier -

This "Levy only cares about money" thing while true to an extent - Tottenham being successful is the best thing for Money.
