Solid argument. You don’t think Jose ever told Kane that he has to leave Spurs if he wants to be one of the greats? He probably told him that every day.

You've pretty much summed up my thoughts exactly! Although, the more Kane has sustained and actually elevated his game almost every season the more evident it is that he's an all-timer in the making and letting him go, no matter the fee would be foolish. Now more than ever, since I have absolutely zero trust in us spending the money well. Not advocating that we sell Kane .... but
Kane is 28 this summer his value is 150m, as his contract runs down and his age goes up that will only decrease. So too maximise the value selling Kane now, at a time when he's coming off arguably his best ever season, makes good commercial sense ....
But selling Kane leaves a huge hole in the team, would 150m buy the 2/3 players needed to fill that gap?
There is a very recent comparison - Coutinho sold for 142m - that money transformed Liverpool into EPL and CL winners ... they didn't try and replace Coutinho they just bought the best defender VdV and the best striker Salah they could find ...
Not for one second saying sell Kane and buy a world class CB and a world class AM .... but like Liverpool would we actually be a better squad if we did?
The idea that Haaland is staying put in Dortmund, especially after all those meetings he had, seems so suspicious eh? Perhaps they said it just to ease distraction for the end of this season. I mean he has absolutely EXPLODED this season in terms of performance and hype. Seems so weird that he wouldnt leave in this moment.Transfer merry go rounds are a weird thing: a bit of me wonders if there's been some behind the scenes movement regarding a Haaland to Real Madrid transfer - something that would make Man City come out of the woodwork and more aggressively pursue Kane.
I said this many pages ago, but the scary thing is not what happens if we get a massive bid for Kane, but what happens if we don't?But yeah, to absolutely speculate I think Haaland is City's #1 wishlist item and Kane is the backup if that doesn't happen
If in doubt, blame Levy. This would be the most apt ending to the most underwhelming of seasons....
Even Jose couldn't win us s trophy, so Kane finally realises we are cursed in that respect.
Everyone may as well leave, it's clear you only win trophies with the best players, having 2 our 3 great players clearly isn't enough, so what's the point in having ANY?
besides, City can afford all of them, so we may as well just sit back and watch City/Chelsea's 50+ man squads Hoover up and win everything for the next 10 years....
It already IS the ESL, it's just City/Chelsea's PL version!
Why doesn't Kane push for a move Leiecster....? they've won stuff recently!
Football makes me fucking sick sometimes. Just go where the guaranteed trophies are.... we could ALL do that, and just support this year's Champions are each year, and pretend it means something... but we don't. We're stuck with our club, whether we like it or not.
We were CL finalists 2 years ago.... and went backwards.
Liverpool were losing finalists the year before us, but came back stronger, determined to put it right.... we've just been feeling sorry for ourselves and blaming others ever since!
I honestly dunno who to blame first for how this has all played out.... but its 2021, there HAS to be someone to blame!

A wantaway Kane with rapidly declining asset value to the club would be a catastrophe.

Bingo. Think that situation times ten, on a worse team.
Yep, loads of outlets are reporting it as Spurs’ official statement to them.Did that actually get released by the club? That's a wild thing to say.
Also this:If that were anybody else saying that I'd laugh.
But Dan KP....

I really don't know but I don't expect to see a bidding war. If it is true that he wants to stay in England there are only three clubs that could compete for him but I think it will only be the two Manchesters. If they put a cap on what they want to spend Levy won't have any alternatives.
I doubt there’s a done deal; but I think that statement also reflects a bit of frustration at Kane that he has let his camp leak this before the season is over.Is it possible this is already a done deal?
The Daniel Levy I know could be anywhere from desperate to sell to totally confident and not even considering offers, or anywhere in between, and regardless his answer would be "not for sale at any price"
Frustrated or not, they look totally ridiculous releasing a statement like that, particularly when so much of the focus of the actual power structure of the club is toward finding a new manager.I doubt there’s a done deal; but I think that statement also reflects a bit of frustration at Kane that he has let his camp leak this before the season is over.
I think they’re a bit rattled and panicked. Bunch of amateurs.Frustrated or not, they look totally ridiculous releasing a statement like that, particularly when so much of the focus of the actual power structure of the club is toward finding a new manager.
Why would they comment in the first place?
