Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Is Kane really going to leave? I just can’t see him turning round to his team mates and saying ‘you lot ain’t good enough for me’. His choice isn’t about trophies or no trophies. It’s about ‘does he want to become a real club legend or just another money mercenary?

However long he remains here now, the "One of our own" song is no longer appropriate. I suggest the following alternative:

"He's a great striker,
He's a great striker
Harry Kane,
He's a great striker"

This strikes the right tone I believe, appreciative of him as a player whilst not pretending he has the special connection to the club that we thought he once did.

He deserves better than ENIC FC.

It's not "this lot"
It's the last lot. The lot before that. The next lot. The lot after that.
It's the yes man coach.
It's the excuse "we tried"

No mate , no other world class player would show such loyalty . He stuck around for years , has fuck all to show for it while the owners show no ambition.
ENIC FC are the cancer .
The club have let him down.
He will always be "one of our own"

Guess that'll make Kane 88 and Son 89.

EDIT: upon further digging, it's actually (since 2008) 29 players who have won 116 accumulative trophies since leaving

Half of these aren't big trophies but there's still some names on there that can probably convince Kane to move on

Are we cursed or something?

As I said earlier, if he's going then fine but he has to be careful how he plays it if he wants to keep his 'one of our own' tag.

For me, as someone who son is named after him ( kind of), I'll only be ok with him going abroad or, begrudgingly, City.

Anyone else and he drops way down in my estimation, even accepting that this is almost entirely the club's doing.

In my heart I want to believe this. However, my head says that he’s had enough of ENIC and their clownery and enough of carrying a bang average squad. Shame it has to be like this but it’ll never happen for Spurs...

Is there any glimmer of hope he's angling for a massive contract and/or trying to bluff Levy into investing in the squad and getting a decent coach?

Or is it "out out"

Ronaldo used to pull this stunt every year at Madrid and he didn't leave until he was well into his 30s

I completely agree, and I think the choice is clear for Kane in that regard: if he wants to leave us to finally win stuff then City is the completely logical place to go. Any of the other options and despite their ability to get trophy wins over the line (hello, United) I honestly don't even think getting our shit together would put us far off them at all in terms of the league. We were above them for plenty of time.

I'd rather he go to Real Madrid or something but the guy is obsessed with beating Shearer's goalscoring record and we all know he can't do that in Spain.

A very optimistic question, but unfortunately we both know there's a world of difference between the conveyor belt of silverware Ronaldo was getting at Real vs Kane here.

In reality, in terms of qualifying for top 4 since he's broke into the team, only Man City have outperformed us. In terms of being involved in title races, again only Man City have outperformed us and had more than 2. And in terms of reaching CL finals, only Liverpool has outperformed us. Let's not pretend we're West Ham levels of not competing. He supposedly wanted to leave last year, the first time in five years we hadn't made top 4.

What he's doing is absolutely unacceptable in my opinion. This isn't about him leaving and us getting the best fee possible. He's acting under instructions of a club, probably City, to agitate for a move to help drive the price down as low as possible. They've likely told him we'd like to sign you, we'll give you X amount a week, but we're not prepared to pay more than Y amount, say 70 million, and to get it down to that you need agitate, and leaking info to the likes of Sky Sports is part of that. So for me personally, by behaving in that way, he's no longer a club legend and the special connection to the club he once had has gone.
