"THIS IS PEAK VALUE, WE WILL NEVER RECEIVE THIS KIND OF MONEY AGAIN" they cried.

And being able to buy Jimmy Greaves for £99999 almost the first £100000 player is what helped win us trophies. So let’s not moan now that somebody has got more money than we have.Put Pep in charge of any of the current Premier League squads, how many would he likely win the league with?
City and Chelsea I would say at most.
Put him at United I think he would have a fight for top 2-3.
Put him at Liverpool and I don't think he would exceed what Klopp has done.
It's not like if you gave him the reigns of Spurs, Woolwich, Leicester or something and suddenly they would be title challenging.
The ridiculous squads and resources of City & Chelsea are what wins them trophies.
Man City don't have more money than us and the Jimmy Greaves signing is a very bad analogy. The state of is it Abu Dhabi have more money than us. THIS is what is wrong and morally bankrupt about their success. I'm stunned that so many fans fail to see this clearly. And being able to buy Jimmy Greaves for £99999 almost the first £100000 player is what helped win us trophies. I am not saying Pep is a bad coach but he has not had to earn it. He has just had the easiest ride a manager has ever had. Fergie proved himself in Scotland with Aberdeen in a league dominated by two teams, Mourinho won the champions league with Porto. These are amazing things and deserve plaudits and to step up. Pep has won the league with the best midfield duo in history with one of the best defensive midfielders in the world behind them and probably the best player in the world leading the line. That was Pep’s first management job and the Bayern one was easier. The fact is he had two three year cycles as manager because he knew there was heavy rebuilds needed and decided that the clubs did not have the cash to replace what he had. Pep is not in the league of Fergie who won the league with the likes of Wes Brown and Gibson playing a significant number of games for him.Yeah the biggest/richest teams will always be the ones spending big whenever they want. It doesn't mean pep is overrated. Fergie had more buying power than anyone else in the league for a long time. He hoovered up the titles. Nobody claims fergie to be overrated.
I feel a lot of the pep hate is more about a dislike of the way football has gone rather than being about him. He is the face of man city so bears the brunt of our displeasure of that club. There's no doubt he is a good coach and I'm sure if there was a poll on here asking if you could have any manager in the world, who would you take.....Pep would likely top the poll. Or at least second after Potter![]()
We won the double the year before we signed Greaves though. And being able to buy Jimmy Greaves for £99999 almost the first £100000 player is what helped win us trophies. So let’s not moan now that somebody has got more money than we have.
Yeah you've made some fair points thereI am not saying Pep is a bad coach but he has not had to earn it. He has just had the easiest ride a manager has ever had. It really isn’t.
I read something over at BlueMoon, so grain of salt, that Pep is super keen on Kane and he’s the only player he wants. But their hierarchy is much less convinced and wants a younger striker.Surely Kane is livid with that kind of offer from City - I know he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he must know that's 75m + add ons is a fucking ridiculous offer that we could never accept.
They really don't come across like they actually want him. Bizzare.
They probably don't. Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if they orchestrated the whole thing just to unsettle him and give Haaland food for thought.Surely Kane is livid with that kind of offer from City - I know he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he must know that's 75m + add ons is a fucking ridiculous offer that we could never accept.

That would make sense and explain a lot.I read something over at BlueMoon, so grain of salt, that Pep is super keen on Kane and he’s the only player he wants. But their hierarchy is much less convinced and wants a younger striker..

They can easily afford what he's really worth. Thankfully they obviously don't really want him.
Totally understandable why Levy is just refusing to come to the table if thats the kind of figures they're offering. It's just not even worth discussing is it.They probably don't. Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if they orchestrated the whole thing just to unsettle him and give Haaland food for thought.
