Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

They wanted him less than they wanted Grealish which says something about how they view/rate him

Grealish had a release clause though. It was a very simple affair to put down 100m and Villa couldn't do anything, from there it was all on the player. The Villa chairman came out and said they would've rejected the offer if it wasn't for the clause.

I believe City wanted Kane and had him as a primary target, but simply didn't want to be drawn in to a standoff with Levy. The onus was put on the player to force the move and we all know how that went.

If they really wanted him they would have overpaid like most big teams do when they want a player. Harry literally begged them to take him too and they still weren’t willing to pay up

City really try to avoid this. They obviously do pay huge fees, but they're very conscious of not being taken for mugs by other clubs because of their wealth. There are numerous occasions where they have walked away from a player, most notably Van Djik. City's own chairman has talked about this on a couple of occasions. They also walked away from Sanchez due to wage demands, and refused to pay what Leicester wanted for Mahrez, getting him later for cheaper.

They are a very structured club, with a clear philosophy when it comes to transfers. And they won't be seen as an easy target for clubs to milk them for transfer fees, especially when they were one of only maybe 2-3 teams who could possibly get Kane, and the player is desperate to go.

Personally I think they're happy to bide their time and are confident they'll get their man.

Mate, I don’t think they’ll pay more than 75 million for Kane at this point. I don’t think anyone else will either. City are likely going to go for one of the better/younger targets.

They might not. Right now they hold the cards as Kane is off form (I do think he'll get back to scoring though) and clearly wants out, whilst his contract will just tick down.

Name the better/younger targets that City can realistically acquire as a CF.
