Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's fair to question Poch's part in the final being a damp squib, but if the players can't raise themselves for likely the biggest game of their careers it doesn't reflect well on them either.
Finally we've started replacing these players. Thats a good sign. Almost everyone involved in both that final and the league cup final 2 years later should be replaced. We wont be winning much with those.

Sissoko set the tone for that final, unfortunately. Liverpool had failed at that hurdle last year and had Klopp's bad final record to place some doubts in their minds. Then we go and steady all those nerves by giving away a penalty in the first few minutes against one of the best defences + counter attacking sides in all of Europe.

From there they controlled the pace the game was played at, and were comfortable.

Poch failed in both big games for us. He was even saved by Lucas in the semi and then failed again in another final.
Poch showed the world that day that he had no courage, and was tactically inept.
After denying we the Kane team, and proving it against City twice and Ajax, he turned straight back to “Tactic Kane”.

That’s why he’s at PSG.
That’s why he failed at a fail proof job.

Spurs fans deserve for us to win something sometime. Its been over a decade and manager after manager have failed , not helped by a rubbish owner.

Sissoko lumping a highball into the box and the ball ending up with lucas is not some great tactics. That was down to the players.

Spurs fans Deserved nothing after that disgraceful period of slutting for a clearly past it Mourinho .

Poch Decided to go direct with Llorente have runners buzz around him and largely bypass the midfield where we being outplayed.

That Lucas caught fire is great, but Poch put him in the position to succeed. For example, If Poch played Lucas as an orthodox winger, he wouldn’t have been in those positions to finish.

He introduced the element of Chaos and Ajax/Ten Haag couldn’t handle it.

As poch watched, taking 66 minutes to put the player on who was the reason poch go to the final in the first place.

Said player then proceeded to run in to defenders for 34 minutes, so my faith he would have made a big difference starting because of the Ajax fluke (and it was a fluke if you look at his career as a whole) is rather thin on the ground I'm afraid.

Poch definitely made mistakes in that final though. But the position he was in was difficult, and we lacked the options to really hurt Liverpool. Against Ajax he brought on Llorente and it changed things as they weren't used to the style and he was winning his aerial duels pretty much every time.

You couldn't do that vs Liverpool. Matip/VVD are used to that, and will gobble it up. Fabinho is also very aerially strong.

Err sorry but don’t rewrite history.
We had 8 shots on target to their 3 and 16 overall to their 14

64% possession
510 passes to their 270
80% pass accuracy to their 64%

Kane had ONE of those 16 shots and made 11 of those 510 passes

Don’t lie and think it becomes truth over time.
I watched the game, Liverpool were jittery and nervous and and the data shows, playing a counter attack football which only threatened when Origi got on the end of it late on.
We dominated. Problem was, our target man was not making the runs and not available as he wasn’t fit.

But that something you feel we should just all “get a grip” over while you make up fantasies about us never being in the game

They were the favourites, they were a 98 point team, they had signed 3 of the world best in their positions since they lost the previous final.

Spurs were massive underdogs, (as they were vs City and Ajax) but people refuse to accept that because they are emotional idiots, and narrative takes precedent over analysis.

The penalty was trippers fault because the very first action of the game he allows mane a free run in behind.

You've used exactly zero stats which disprove my point. Well done, you must feel very clever.

Liverpool weren't very good in that final. But the penalty goal allowed them to have something to sit on, and had it not been scored those jitters you mention would have been made far worse. You'd expect the team chasing a goal in a final to have more possession, shots etc, and Liverpool's pass accuracy is often low because they go long regularly and bypass the midfield.

The tone was set means they were able to look at our team and say 'go on, score' but we were incapable of putting together real threatening situations on a regular basis. Blame Kane for that all you like, others were equally rubbish in those situations on the day.

I never said we weren't in the game, silly. There's no need to make stuff up. What I said was that a poor mistake gave Liverpool a platform from which they could play not particularly well, but still win due to an excellent backline.

And regardless of any of that, you still need to get a grip making baseless accusations about a player lying to medical staff who have state of the art technology. You have an agenda. Sometimes you make genuine points, other times you're clearly just looking to attack a player you're not a fan of.

So the great Poch's tactical genius was ...lump the ball up to the tall guy and wait for knockdowns. Almost every shit team plays like that when cant score a goal .
