Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Our problem, even under peak Poch, was too many technically inconsistent players. We have the same issue today.

Son, Lucas, Dele all regularly have games where they basically can't control a football. Kane's technique is usually fine but his issues are physical, severe lack of pace, power or any kind of engine these days.

When you look at the attackers of the best teams this just isn't the case.

Just look at Liverpool's front three today. Some of the link up play and finishing was effortless. And they all work like dogs and are very quick.

We have none of that. Quite simply, the top teams don't fear our attackers.

Nailed it.

This is why both Son and Kane aren't world class in my honest opinion.

If they were truly world class, we'd of had a trophy by now. I really believe that.

Levy is going to feel like a right twat when he finally decides he'll sell Kane and he's getting 50m less than the offer from this season. Then, knowing Levy, he'll refuse to sell because it hurts his financial ego, so we get an even worse version of Kane the next season who wants to be here even less. Then the cycle continues.

Grealish 26 (and shin problems)
Kane 28 (and ankle problems)

Not as vast a difference as many would like to make out.....

+ Grealish is still being talked about in terms of potential (crazy but true!); Kane has PROVEN himself.

You honestly don't think a re-freshed Kane would have racked up the goals and more than covered him price-tag in a team as dominant as City?

Besides..... I listed 4/5 players in to frame to domestic trf market.... Haller & Joelinton cost £45m & £40m respectively FFS!
Im not saying other teams dont make mistakes with their transfers and overpay. But that doesnt mean teams will overpay for Kane either.

Just because we think he might be good at city doesnt mean he will be useful to us. That was just self sabotage out of spite

We've a right to demand market rate.....

- Homegrown.
- England Captain
- One of the EPLs all time scorers
- 3 years on his deal.
- Just had a career season (Golden Boot + top assister).
- Striker being a prime cost position.

Just because we think he might be good at city doesnt mean he will be useful to us.

That wasn't the argument being made...... It was about price-tag.

That said he was pretty fucking useful last year..... Like I've already said, it's unreasonable to claim clairvoyance that anyone KNEW he'd not knuckle down this season.

Modric did... Bale did.....

That was just self sabotage out of spite

Him slacking off right now is Spurs SELF-sabotage?

Sounds jazzy when you say it; but nah.....

If there's any sabotage at play KANE is doing it.

Right this moment, I don't care about his past. He's been a great player for us. I loved watching him. But this season he looks like the backup striker; the one you need for the conference matches. He's much closer to Vinicius than he is Lewandowski right now.

The well-touted theory that he doesn't want to be with us anymore has never looked more certain than today. He was at his worst. He jogged when he should have been sprinting; he didn't press; he didn't defend; he hid.

I can recall one decent ball forward from him. He's got it in his locker to play that sort of pass all day long but he doesn't really care. His mind is not there and when that happens you have to get rid of the player. Otherwise all he's doing is further shitting on an otherwise fantastic record.

Does Nuno have the guts to get him off the pitch? Nope. Leaves him on to the end.

Poor as he was, it shouldn't also not be noted that we literally gave him one good cross or pass all afternoon. This side would make Mo Salah look half the player he is for Liverpool. Doesn't matter who we replace Kane with if we don't do something about our midfield and wide players.

150 was never the market rate for kane. Only complete idiots wanted that. 75+25 was a good starting offer , one which could have been worked on and brought nearer to 110+ overall. Thats a good market rate for an aging striker who looked shit for england as well.

He was good against crap teams last year like its been pointed out in this thread many times. City want to win the CL, they were taking a risk investing a 100million in a guy who doesnt turn up in the big games.

Of course levy self sabotaged by not making a deal to look tough. Its fucked him and us over.

Because when Klopp drops Mane their front 3 is Jota-Firmino-Salah, and when we drop Kane it becomes Bergwijn-Son-Lucas, so one player of quality flanked by two genuinely awful players. Even a pretty bad player like Origi starts ahead of Bergwijn.

Kane deserves dropping, but you can see why he isn't being, our depth is horrific. No back up CF and when we move Son there, our quality on the wing drops off completely. You can blame Levy/ENIC/Paratici for that, the failure to sign a back up CF & wide player of worth in the summer was an utter disgrace.
How many times have we seen a front 3 of Bergwijn-Son-Lucas tho?

I'll give you one guess as to our front 3 in our 1-0 win vs City matchweek 1 and our 1-0 win vs Wolves matchweek 2.

Why would we need to see that exact front 3? You think magically because we play with Son central, guys like Lucas or Bergwijn are going to start finishing with any consistent quality? They're not good footballers. Period.

Wolves played us off the park and we got lucky, vs City we executed a decent gameplan but still created almost nothing and Bergwijn missed one of our only chances. In one off games it might work, across a season if you're relying on these guys, you won't score enough goals.

100+ meaning? 111..... 120..... 130...... For the sake of clarity let's remove the vagueness here.

Why didn't City make such a bid... Publicly if necessary? ...If they were happy to pay a more realistic price? .....They have the cash in spades afterall.

Between them and Kane's camp they blatantly tried to shit-house a cheap deal out of us.....

Even Kane priced himself at 100m in his Neville interview.... Why all this 75m + potential add-ons and you can have Jesus part-ex and then have Pep bitch and whine fuckery?

I tend to think if they'd offered 130 flat-cash they'd have got him

Sorry... I'm not engage with the Sammy/NDumbo version of this discussion.

Levy is a "look tough" > $$$ guy now?

I thought he was a "greedy" "thief" that "sells our best players the first chance he gets".....?

(I'm not attributing all those quotes to you but food for thought, innit.)

Lol.

Not necessarily exclusively central, that front 3 can me more fluid. Play Lucas as the false 9. Keep the opponents guessing.
The point is, Kane doesn't need to start and play 90 minutes every PL match this season. It doesn't benefit us and it doesn't benefit him. We could of used him coming off the bench today.

We scored early at Wolves and then sat deep and absorbed a bunch of long-range speculative shots against a counterattacking team. Our xGs were comparable.

The only 'Lol' here is at you, if you genuinely think wide players who get like 4-5 goals combined in a league season are anything but not good enough for clubs with ambition. Those two aren't good footballers relative to what we want to achieve.

The xG doesn't look bad, but we had a penalty which forms a large part of ours, we weren't creating many chances from open play at all. The fact we scored a grand total of 3 goals against Wolves, City and Watford tells me maybe our attack doesn't benefit that much from dropping Kane.

Two games where we parked a bus and got a goal from a pen/pot shot don't tell us anything about Bergwijn or Lucas.
