Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Messi is for me the best player of all time. He is the only player I have ever seen who is 10/10 at basically everything, his passing is better than Modric or Xavi, he can play deep and run a game against anyone, he creates more than De Bruyne ever could, he can dribble better than Hazard and his finishing is Kane/Haaland level wgile Ronaldo is a top 5/10 player of all time who redefined the wing forward role and was a monster.

Kane is incredible but the Messi, Maradona, Ronaldo level is a different level to him. In my view with Messi and Ronaldo basically at retirement there isn’t a player in the world remotely at their peak levels. Kane, Yamal, Mbappe and Haaland are great players and Mbappe does have the bonus of turning up in a final but they are all a level below the prior mentioned.

Yeah, and I wouldn't even put Ronaldo in Messi's level. Ronaldo is above all a selfish player - he'll always take the shot even if there is a better placed player he could pass to. Now most of the time it works out because he's a great finisher, but Messi will nearly always pick the best option for the team.

I don't think I quite appreciated how good Messi was until I saw his performance in the flesh when we played Barca at Wembley back in 2018. He was so, so much better than anyone else on the pitch it was like watching a different sport.

He beat us up in that game. Different levels

Yeh was at that game as well. We had Barca under control, nice technical players but not doing much against us until the ball got to Messi then it was panic stations. Panic stations even when he got the ball on the half way line, he could make a killer pass or dribble from anywhere on the pitch. Only player I can remember causing our players to shit themselves like that was Hazard at his peak when we would drop 10 yards.

His control at speed is unlike any other player I've seen.

Maradona was stronger on the ball, but Messi much faster

He should, but last season he wasn't quite as good as the previous season for Bayern. This season he looks sharper, and Bayern as a team look much stronger. If he stays fit and Bayern with the CL I can genuinely see him winning it next year.
It would be well deserved imo, his consistency over a decade and more now is remarkable. You won’t see another English player put his numbers up again, not in the near future anyway.

Not that much faster. The young Diego had a real burst of speed especially over 30 yards which is where it counts.

Messi had much longer at the top and was more consistent. But the Maradona of 86 is the best player of all time for me. I’ve never seen any other player reach that level, but Messi would be the closest.

I agree on 86. And offensive play was MUCH harder then. That is the best performance at a WC Finals by any player by a long way

His latest quotes don’t suggest he anywhere near ready to come back to the PL. Life in Munich is pretty good.

Only team he might leave for are Barca. They'll be looking to replace Lewandowski in the summer, and you dont really turn down Barcelona. Otherwise he will be at Bayern for another 2 or 3 seasons before moving to the US to wind down his career.

Even if he came back to break Shearer's record, it wouldn't last long with Haaland around.

Only got 22 last season.
At 94 goals, he's 172 behind. @ 22 a season that's almost 8 seasons. In his 3 full seasons he's averaged 28 a season. So at that rate, it's still 6 seasons to get to 266.
And that assumes Kane doesn't play until he's 38 and get 280+ PL goals.

And none of that accounts for the fact City have gotten worse in the last year. Not sure they're coming back any time toon either tbh.

Edit - Shearer is at 260, not 266
