The best in the world should be the star in all competitions, not just champions league. Especially when a World Cup is coming around, not sure how you could justify giving it to Kvara if someone who has had an excellent CL, league and World Cup season exists.
Also what, if it went to Kane it went to a stat padder? He scored crucial CL goals in every single tie. And assisted them. He just didn’t play for the best team… and he destroyed his domestic league, and will probably have a big World Cup. That’s a deserving winner.
I think they'll want to reward a top WC performer seeing as it only comes around every 4 years. They'll want to maximize on that media exposure.
