Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Theres nothing random about shooting straight at a keeper, either he doesn't have the confidence to shoot to the corners more and is just trying to get them on target or he is thinking less and just hoping.
I'm not sure which is worse tbh but he desperately needs to find some kind of form for his sake and ours as a collective.
It can be a lot of things. He may just not have struck a few cleanly, and so they just went straight as opposed as to the corners. He may be facing a confidence issue, or he may just be finding it hard to get that angle against defenders tracking him more. It could be all 3. Either way, other strikers also face these problems. His conversion rate is well below what would be normal for a "league average" striker, and is well below his own numbers last year and the tail end of 2013-2014. He is not Coutinho or Jesus Navas, he does not have a documented history of being a completely shit shot. He will start scoring again soon.

I seem to recall similar discussions about how bale had been 'found out' the war after the champions league run.

Players double marking him, kicking him etc. but after a while he had the ability to find a solution just as top players do.

I have faith that Kane will do the same. But it may take a tactical tweak from the manager to unleash him. I have the feeling once son gets a run of games we might see the best of him and he gives defenders something a bit more to worry about than n'jie or Chadli and even lamela

But Son, Chadli and Nije are all strikers, Dembele is also a forward, so is Lloris. We didn't need Berahino.

:pocheyes::pochfacepalm:
Reckon people need to get off the "we missed on Berahino" bus. We missed on other forwards that summer as well. People just remember Berahino because it was more public. Given we went for him last, he wasn't the one we wanted more.

We should have got him or someone else or kept Bobby. Running Harry into the ground ain't a solution.

I agree we're overly reliant on Kane, but I don't think keeping Bobby was the answer. I agree with Pochettino that we should only sign the guys we really want. It's annoying we couldn't get one more, but frankly, Lamela and Eriksen need to shoot more from open play, Chadli needed to impose himself more, and Andros needs to get it together. If these guys were able to contribute more goals as a group, the pressure would be less on just Harry (or Son for that matter).

I think we will be scoring more in future, as our conversion numbers are abnormally low, but I also think some players could be doing more.

Kane's interview with Korean media!

Pls understand that the interview is almost all about Son Son Son.... it's us Koreans' very nature....

======

Last year, Kane has fascinated the football supporters week in week out.

He was the new star striker came out after a decade since Rooney’s debut: he’s the only English forward chosen for ‘Young Player of the Year’ by PFA after Rooney. He’s been nurtured in the Spurs academy, played for 4 different teams on loan before being the best striker last season, all of sudden. Not many doubt his ability despite his lack of goals this season.

Kane met youth football players from South Korea. 12 players aged 12 from Hansol Elementary School who compete in the Danone Nations Cup 2015 visited Hotspur way for coaching session via the invitation of AIA, the official sponsor of Tottenham Hotspur. Before the session Kane had interview with Korean media, a rare chance to hear about Son Heung-min and Korean football. It started with the talk on the young players from Korea.

-12 year-old players came here to see you. What was it like when you were 12 years old?

"I joined Spurs when I was 11, so it was my second year here. I loved playing football, playing here with coaches then. I came here 3-4 times a week after school. Yeah, happy days."

-What’s important for a 12 year old football player?

"You have to enjoy it, you have to have fun while playing. Also you have to train hard, devoting yourself 100% to football. If you want to be a good player in the future, you have to do your best."

-You must be some kind of dream for them, playing in the PL. What’s your advice to young players who want to be like you?

"Train hard, believe in yourself, your ability. And you always have to be consistent. If you want to be a pro footballer, you have to get better everyday. Then you’ll be playing in the PL one day."

-Who was your star when you were 12 years old?

"There are some. Teddy Sheringham was one of them. David Beckham is from my town, I went to the same school that he went. I respect him now and back then, on and off the pitch."

-You should’ve been excited when you first played in the national team with star footballers.

"It was tremendous. I made my England debut last year, it was so special, feeling like every moment was a dream. Playing at Wembley used to be my boyhood dream, and I hope I can play there as long as possible. I’ll try hard to achieve it."

-When did you first hear about the signing of Son?

"One day back in August. He’s a nice guy on and off the pitch. His personality makes people smile in the locker room. I’m glad to have him in the squad."

-Have you heard about him before he joined Spurs?

"Yes, he had scored quite an amount of goals in Bundesliga, so I was excited that he’d come. Looking at him now he’s a great player. He can play with both feet, very talented. He’s perfect for Spurs."

-What about his language ability?

"Not bad, and he’s getting better. I can’t speak Korean anyway(laughs). His English is getting better quickly, makes decent jokes to teammates. He’s fun to be with."

-Any Korean you learned from him?

"Not yet, he tried to teach me some words…. what’s hello in Korean? (‘It’s Annyeong’) Oh, Annyeong, he said that. He’ll let me know of some in the future. (He said ‘Annyeong’ to the Korean boys afterwards)"

-When you were still young, YP Lee was playing at Spurs. Have you seen him playing?

"I did, it was when I was about the kids(from Korea). He was a good player for the team, playing up and down of the pitch."

-What’s your impression of Korean football?

"There are many talented players, maybe there are more to come. If young players get chances to train at Spurs like these young fellas, more Korean players will be able to play around the world, including the PL."

-Son once treated Korean food to the squad.

"It was amazing. He brought Korean cooks and treated lunch to the squad and staff, it was impressive. I haven’t tried Korean food many times, but it was great and everyone enjoyed it. I think I’ll be visiting Korean restaurants."

-Son played 5 games at Spurs, most of them was with you. Do you think he’s suitable for the PL?

"Definitely. He already scored 3 goals. He’s great now, but he’ll be getting better and better. Son is enjoying it here, playing in the best league in the world. He’s young and talented, so no reason that he stops scoring."

-Some people are worried for Son because both of you and him are forwards, so sometimes he has to fight for his place. Do you think you two can play together well?

"It depends what we bring to the team. We’ve been play together well so far, and that comes from the differences of us two. He’s got the pace and techniques. We play well together, I hope we can make success together."

-You must have seen many Spurs players. Who do you think is similar to Son?

"Well, who’s similar to him? Anyone who played with both feet.."

-Or in the PL?

"It’s hard to find both-feeted player. He’s the only one. He’s both-feeted, fast, scores. He’s unique."

-Son is new to London. As a native Londoner, could you suggest restaurants and place to chill out?

"Well, a man who just arrived to London will be advised of place to go, what to eat etc by everyone. But it’s always better to find by yourself. He’s already found Korean cooks in London!"

-You’re famous for not drinking, not going to night clubs. What do you do with your teammates when you’re free?

"We sometimes play Paintball(survival game) together. Or going for golf, there are some players who play golf, so we go together and have fun."

-Apparently Son played ‘Call of Duty’ a lot at Leverkusen. What’s the famous game among Spurs players?

"We play Playstation or X-box games too. We play a lot of Fifa. I play Fifa, I don't play Call of Duty. We got the consoles at the training centre. If there are two sessions a day, we get relaxed playing Fifa together. Or playing pingpong. ('So Son should be practice pingpong then?') I’ve seen him playing, it was not bad."

-I’ve watched the Liverpool game. You were not able to touch the ball a lot as you had many defenders around you. People think that strikers are fascinating, always being spotlighted. But what you are actually doing is a bit different.

"Strikers are meant to be scoring. Have to win the ball for the team, playing hard at front so that other players can play well. It’s hard sometimes. You may think ‘yeah, that’s what strikers are for’ when you watch great goals, but that’s not all of our roles. I want to score, but it’s impossible to score everyday. So I have to maintain the spirit, trying hard, keeping the ball, doing my best to help the team."

-This will be your first full season. And now you are the team’s third captain, also one of the most important players at Spurs. Everything has been changed in one year. How do you feel?

"It’s been a tremendous year. I was not able to play in the PL from the very start of last season. Now many things have been changed, and I’m satisfied with the role at the team and the vision of the club. We have many young players, the staff is great. We have a bright future. We’ve got a lot to develop, as we are still young, but we are trying our best for better influence."

-You’ve experience the first, second and third divisions of English football. What’s English football? What is your advice for Korean young footballers who want to play in the PL?

"Wherever you get your chance to play, it’s good. English football is very fast and physical. It’s great to play in the PL or the Championship. It’ll be the same for Korean players too."

-What is your choice? Ronaldo or Messi?

"I’ll go for Messi. Both of them are amazing, accomplished many things in football. I’ve chose Messi but they are equally great."

[런던 인터뷰] 케인 “유일무이 손흥민, 나와 잘 맞아”

Apologies for the shaky translation!

Thing is we have the same formation as last season, largely same players behind him so the main variable here is Kane's actual form which has dipped since last couple months of last season and the fact the opposing players will be very aware of him and studied how to stop him now
Its up to him to find his form I am afraid and I think dropping a striker rarely ever works, how can dropping anyone when no clear alternative help him?
Lets hope he finds the shooting boots soon

I'm sorry but Harry is not a Gareth Bale mate, as much as I'd like him to be.

Great stuff for Harry's confidence today - maybe more important for our season than the immediate result. Will go a long way to stop the media getting into his head with all this negative shit theyre trying to sell us.

"Think Harry Kane is shit and won't amount to anything. So overrated, and a one season wonder."

^ any melts still think this?

Glad that Poch didn't drop Kane, he now knows that he has the confidence of his manager and the team and that he isn't under pressure just because he goes through a dry patch. I think the games coming up are ideal for him to kick on now. And, it's November next week :kaneshh:
