I’ll Adapt To Whatever Manager Wants, Tottenham Hotspur Star Admits

Speaking to football.london, Winks said:

“I don’t really consider myself an attack-minded midfielder with the creativity of other midfielders who play in that position.

“If I can try and contribute to the game in other ways and if by that is looking for more creative passes, then I’m always trying to learn to do that and I’ve shown in some games the capability to do that.”

I stuck up for him recently because he’d had a decent run of games and I saw a place for him as a squad player, but he was just awful on Wednesday. If he can’t string together reasonable performances for more than a couple of games then he shouldnt even be in the squad.
And what the fucks up with all the interviews lately. Keep your gob shut and focus on your job. It’s no good talking the talk if you then can’t walk the walk.

THEY WINKS IT'S ALL OVER

‘I was dead and buried’ – Harry Winks reveals how he came back from the brink to revive Tottenham career

HARRY WINKS thought his Tottenham career was 'dead and buried' under Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Spurs academy product and lifelong fan feared his time at his boyhood idols was up when he was frozen out by his previous two bosses.

But new boss Antonio Conte has brought him back in from the cold to the first-team since taking over in November.

Winks said: “The manager's come in and given me a chance, given me confidence again.

“Every game I play, every training session I have that hunger to try to impress him and do everything I can to try to improve.

“My career at Tottenham was probably dead and buried but he's come in and given me an opportunity to show myself and prove myself.

“And for that, every time I get an opportunity I really want to impress the manager and show myself and repay that faith he's shown in me and put it back to me.”

Winks made just seven Premier League starts last season under Mourinho - and just one under Nuno this term before the former Wolves chief was sacked in November.

The midfielder, who has started six and been on the bench for two of new boss Conte’s 11 top flight matches in charge, admitted: “My chances at Tottenham were looking slim. I wasn't getting opportunities and it might have looked like I would need to leave the club.

“I don't know what would have happened, but as I said, the new manager's come in and given everyone an equal opportunity, which is all I wanted under the last two managers.

“Now it's down to me to take that.”

Winks played the whole game as Tottenham lost 3-2 to Southampton last night after conceding two late goals.

He said: “It was very frustrating. It was a poor performance and result.

“When we're not playing well but leading, we need to find a way of not conceding. If we're not playing well, we need to defend well, be resilient and hard to break.

“Against Southampton we were too passive, too easy to play against and defensively as a team it wasn't solid enough.”

Conte, having remained unbeaten in his first nine Prem matches in charge has now lost his last two - with the Saints defeat his first League loss at home.

Winks said: “I wouldn't say it was a wake up call. We haven't been getting ahead of ourselves. We know it's a process.

“We're playing in the Premier League against top opposition.

“Southampton are a top side, they're strong and aggressive and we had to be at our best to beat them. Unfortunately we were poor.

“We let them play, we let them suffocate us and it wasn't a good enough performance.

“But we've got a game against Wolves on Sunday, another difficult opposition, and we've got to do better.”

How do you know the day ends in the letter Y?

Because Tiddly has done another interview.

My highlight was his backhanded compliment about Skipp.

"another player who will definitely look to try and improve under the manager."

And I suppose another player who gets positive press lately is Romero. Winksy weighs in with a bit of a dig whilst talking himself up.

"I suppose it's down to him as he has the ability and has the capabilities of course," he revealed. "Everyone has that ability when you're playing at the top level to be that good.

But time to bring Cuti down a few notches.

"It's finding the consistency and staying fit, but he's a top player and I'm sure if he stays fit and continues to improve under the manager then there's a good chance."

And some on here think that Dele is the rat 🐀

The sooner we get this little turd out of the Club the better

He talks as if he knows his playing v wolves. Also seems to think his improved under conte and that his saved his spurs career turning it around. Where does he get that notion?

By giving interviews slagging off his teammates.

I'm sure you love it when somebody at work tells everybody that you have room for improvement when you've been off sick.

"He's young, he's just come to the club and he's been at a big club with a big mentality. Another good player," said Winks.

"Playing in the Premier League is completely different to Serie A, it takes a little bit of time to get used to the intensity and physicality but they've both been great in training and done well when they've come on.

"I'm sure they both will be a success at the club."

Well the little turd certainly has plenty of room for improvement
Yeah his had all his career to get use to the pl😀.
To be fair there was a small period under poch and when he got into England squad we all thought he was the real deal. Home grown and all that as well which everyone loves.
Not sure what’s happens it looks like his been left behind the last 3 years. He even scored a lively goal for England once. May be he should take a leaf out of skipp book who went away and built himself up. Much more powerful and energetic player now.
Winks just plays in the comfort zone now neither one thing or the other.

Skipp had the drive and determination and application to do that

Tiddly doesn’t
