A Spurs fan from a Spurs family that has came through from the academy from 6 years old to end up a full international and is now being picked quite regularly to start by one of the best managers in football who sees him work/train almost every day.

We should have better players than him starting every game, but that's hardly fucking his fault and he doesn't deserve half the amount of shite he gets from far too many 'fans' on this forum IMO.

For me, his ankle injury and Pochettino's style of play really affected his ceiling and development.

He's a reasonable standard player but is suited to best play as a link player moving the ball from defence/mf into forward areas, but seems to continually play out of position as a DM / screening role, where he lacks physicality like you need in the Rice or Phillips mould.
He's a good sub second string player but I would hope that we would find a better quality player to build a midfield round.
My continued defence of him is based around the fact that he rarely plays where he operates best and the fact that even in games where he has a decent game, the same posters continue to post shit about him, and simply seize on any misplaced pass or his failure to run around the pitch like a demented schoolboy, chasing the ball.

The tedious desire amongst posters on here to find fault, bitch and moan about players and the constant abuse and infantile name calling is cringeworthy and embarrassing to witness.
