Harry's Tax Evasion

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just been reading up on possible sentences for harry....better pack his toothbrush when he goes to court as it looks like he might be spending some time at her majesties pleasure

something I haven't thought about is the timing of this. Harry admitted last season that the situation was getting to him and he thought it showed with some of the performances on the pitch. This could be disastrous to our push this season coming at a very important time in the season and during the transfer window. I can't see many players wanting to sign for a team who's manager might be in the jail a week or so after they sign and the same can be said about current players maybe wanting to jump ship.

Fucking prick, always knew we should've got rid of the corrupt toss rag no matter how good the team is playing at the moment.

I went and spoke to the legal boys at work and they reckon he could be serving as much as up to 7 years.... however unlikely as they never hand out top wack sentences these days. But given how high profile Mr Redknapp is they'll defintely be wanting to make an example of him. Worrying times ahead for the Redknapp familly

Someone remind me what Hiddink did again?

From wikipedia...

In February 2007 Hiddink was given a six-month suspended jail sentence and fined €45,000 after being found guilty of tax fraud by a Dutch court. Prosecutors had demanded a ten-month prison sentence for Hiddink, who was accused of evading €1.4 million in Dutch taxes by claiming to be a resident of Belgium from 2002 to 2003.

Staggered that anyone would claim to be a resident of Belgium even to evade taxes!

Not too fussed about life after Harry but I agree it's the timing which could be detrimental to our season. We don't need any distractions.

This is fucking shit. people seem very calm about the fact that we could, one way or another, be loosing the best manager we've had in a very long time and this could be a very bad thing for us.

why now, when everthing is on the up does this have to happen. "period of transition," anyone?

Would this be the same HMRC that forgot to send out reminders to hundreds and thousands of self assessment income tax payers? Then gave itself three months to sort out its own error, because they are that incompetent. And people think they have their shit together?

And as for 'why would they proceed with the case', err, because the barristers believe they are in with a chance, no matter how narrow, and get paid regardless of outcome. Of course they will tell their client that it's worth pursuing, given the fees they can rack up I can't see why they would drop it. It's like a christmas bonus.

Or am I just too cynical about the whole thing?

If Harry goes down (unlikely given factors), he'll be fundametally in breach of contract (by not being able to do his job) so THFC will be able to terminate quickly.

If he doesn't but is found guilty, then it's slap on the wrist time and a fine (leading to a thanks but no thanks from the FA).

What ever happens, more worrying is the unwanted distraction it brings at the wrong time. Journo's are now writing us of once again, and so the cycle of love / hate continues.

All in a season for any spurs fan really.
