Why are we so disrespected as a club though by all? Villa, Everton and Newcastle etc never get the crap we constantly get

I assume it's because Villa, Everton and Newcastle fans don't parade around like they're huge clubs, despite winning 6 trophies in 43 years.

Which is surprising considering we've only one 1 trophy more than Everton and Villa have since 1980 and even then, they've been a lot more impressive in what they've won.

We are bigger than both by the way, but most people seem to think being a big club is about honors won and constantly competing instead of history and global reach. But as mentioned, I don't think Villa, Everton and Newcastle parade around as such meaning less ridicule.

If Villa fans were all to start saying how big they are as a club and successful they were 40 years ago was a reason why. They'd be laughed at a lot more. But they also have relegations between then and now, so they haven't really got a leg to stand on.

i would take bazunu as the backup
Too error-prone last season, not commanding enough and it showed through poor decision-making. Talent is there but needs regular time as first-choice in a different league imo. Likely won't take to being second-fiddle either.

Forster for another season will be fine. Curious what becomes of Austin though, he's been floating around for a minute.

“This could start to get ugly. I don't like Raya dissing our ambitions especially when it's perennial losers Spurs hoping to sign him. It would be a real shame if he feels he has to force a move by stirring up unnecessary s**t at our club. Just pay up Levy and he's yours.“

Oh do fuck off!!! Getting called Perennial losers by a supporter of a club that has never won a major trophy in their history 🤦‍♂️ i get we don’t help ourselves, but why are Spurs so disrespected as a football club by so many rival supporters? In particular supporters of nothing clubs like Brentford. Newcastle, Villa, Everton etc all win fuck all, yet there seems to be this trend throughout the football world to shit on our club constantly. Gets on my nerves because it’s constant.
Because Brexit means Brexit just repeat some empty ass slogan a few times and thick as fuck people will regurgitate it like it's fact. I actually shocked a West Ham fan the other day when I told him we had indeed won the title twice, eight FA cups, a few league cups. The Ueffa Cup twice the cup winners cup and a couple of charity Sheilds. Through Sky and Twitter he genuinely believed West Hams Europe conference win meant they had overtaken us. That we've literally won nothing...

This is rubbish have you ever sat with Villa fans? Villa fans are every bit as insufferable as the worse Spurs fan. I was nearly one of the jokers so I know them well. They will bring up their European cup win quicker than a Vegan tells you their Vegan. Most Spurs fans are way quicker to laugh at themselves. I know Villa fans who were delight we lost to Liverpool as they felt it kept us below them. You watch now Emrey has them competent they will take the mask off fully

Pre Levy Spurs were a force / big club

All drifted away now amongst wank slogans like ‘feel the glory’ and day tripper neutral selfie slags

That wasn't my point at all. But okay.
What wasn't the point? You said they do not 'parade around' like they are huge clubs. I say they do. And used anecdote to underline why I disagreed. Birmingham city fans will readily tell you about 'The Villa's' god complex ( always the definative article you will notice).. but you know 'okay' 👍 It's only delusional Spurs fans.

There's a reason we're laughed at for releasing DVDs of results against rivals. It's small time. We are a fanbase that celebrated being top of a "2 year table", despite winning absolutely nothing within that period. Again, small time. If people can't honestly see why we get more ridicule over the likes of Villa, Everton and Newcastle than people really fucking need to take rose tinted glasses off. Villa might go on about winning the European Cup, but that's because it's all they have. You can't really ridicule it. It's a European Cup and it's more European Cups than we've ever had. Despite being bigger than them.

We have one of the biggest stadiums in the league that gets less fucking average attendances than West Ham. We are a fanbase that bitch and cry when others mention how "Spursy" we are or coin the term "bottlers" yet use the same moniker when we're pissed off at a game of football or at a certain period of time. We are known as the team that even Mourinho and Conte can't even win a trophy at. The list is endless as to why we're considered a laughing stock and get more ridicule over other somewhat "sleeping giants" of English football.

Yeah I had shut down some of there supporters in the pub after the away game at the there place last season and after coming out of Norwich someone didn't realise I was right behind them and was slating the players about celebrating like we had one a trophy after thumping them had to give it back with no reply (seems like we are the real Millwall)

£40m is probably too much but If he's the primary target then be smarter with the add ons.

Maybe £25m basic and £10m-£15m in add ons, clean sheets, champion's leagues, cup wins that sort of bollocks. We will surely get *some* money for Hugo, GK and CB are the areas that need the highest level of investment. So don't be fucking cheap.
Hugo will be a free after so long.

They definitely think they are "BACK"

Newcastle certainly fucking do!!!!!!

All teams release merchandise including the two teams you state act less big time than us. That's just modern football. It's not a Spurs problem it's a general issue. You can pick up the ten great Woolwich victories over Spurs on Ebay(you sound like you will enjoy it)I get having a downer on the club, but to pretend we have somehow brought this on ourselves with some exceptional behaviour is just bogus.

Your fully entitled to buy the concocted
we think we are big time and using attendances as a metric but not using it to critique the likes of Woolwich who invented the number juggling just shows how slanted your being. By the way this whole we are a 'laughing stock' is again the odd lexicon of social media. I think prehaps step back a bit your arguments pretty empty.

People up and down the country support their teams loudly and proudly 90% of them with zero expectation of ever winning anything. That's what football is as is the banter. You are taking some jealous rivals way too seriously as Ed Vanderlay said they hate us good. It's kind of the point as is being unbearable when your teams on the up.

Oh and some context your use of attendance statistics. It's not as cut and dried as you suggest over at our tiny little club...

Pre Levy Spurs were a force / big club
That’s utter revisionism. We were 15 years removed from being a big club when ENIC bought us. We were a mid table club for the entirety of Uncle Alan’s tenure.

We hadn’t cracked the top three since 89 when we were miles off the top two and hadn’t mounted a real league challenge since the Clive Allen team of 86 — easily my favorite season.

We had a little ‘purple patch’ in the early 80s with those FA Cups 80/81/82 and decent D1 finishes.

I went to just about every match in the early 80s and loved that club. We played excellent football but were still considered a cup team. If you look at the FA Cup draws for those Cup winning seasons then we got great draws — I don’t think we were drawn outside of London until we went to Hillsborough to play Wolves in the semi-final (a frightening day that foreshadowed tragic events).
Realistically, that period was the last time Tottenham can reasonably be considered ‘a force’ and even then I think it’s a bit of a stretch.

On the other hand, my Dad’s Tottenham — he followed religiously through the 50’s and 60’s — were a true force. The City of their day. Domestic champions and champions of Europe and, as importantly, innovators of the game.
