Sometimes fans of this club get so utterly fixated on a single individual that it’s a disaster of the deal doesn’t happen. Porro was a recent such example.

£40mil for a goalkeeper who has a year left on his deal is utterly absurd. Premier League premiums are ridiculous. Excellent talents do excel outside it.

Raya is good but paying this would set a terrible precedent for all our future transfers going forward.

My pick? Yehvann Diouf of Stade Reims. 23 athletic, great distributor off both feet, quick off his line:

Seems very suited for Angeball

Many prices are absurd we live in an absurd league. Whether he has 1 year or 3 years left the clubs mindset should be is he good enough. If this guy is good enough and all our other targets are far less capable (probably true by the way) we are downgrading a position we could have made strong. This affects the entire team, a good keeper means a calmer defence.

if this message is just to get Brentford to lower the price then fine but if we are dropping a level or two for the next keeper it will feed into our results next season.

the problem is the drop off for going cheaper is huge, we could go to next tiers but maignan wont come from milan unless we offer stupid wages

costa at least is semi realistic, age on his side too, would i spend 60 mill for a keeper who is only 22-23 and already looks good i would yes because we need a good gk its important

Probably trying to force Brentford's hand.

Raya has agreed terms, wants the move and will be making Brentford well aware of that. They've signed his replacement and know they need to sell instead of letting him go for free.

Whatever the case, we need to get it wrapped up quickly as we have other positions that need addressing.

We could have a squad full of Peter Schmeichel, Manuel Neuer, Alisson, etc and it’s not going to make that defence any better.

The defence will still be a mess but having the likes of past it Lloris and at best average Forster is still a huge issue. A good keeper brings more assurance, it’s not for nothing teams like Liverpool, City invest in top keepers.

World Cup winner 6 months ago also won the World Cup golden glove.

Knows the PL. Good command of his area and... we could do with his 'cuntishness' IMO.
To be fair, in Harry Kane, Heung Min Son and even Ben Davies, we have three of the most likeable, nicest players in the PL and we're STILL fucking despised!

What makes you think adding 'cuntishness' would help our cause..?

Besides, we have Richi and Romero to make up our Cunty Quota...

I don't think you're allowed more than 2 under current PL cunt quota rules!!!

Alisson is a generational keeper.

Ederson can be ropey in terms of the traditional fundamentals but he brilliant wuth his distribution. Ramsdale similar.

My question Is Raya really *that* good or is this another Porro situation? Because he’s not even established himself over Kepa for Spain and he’s a hologram half of the time.
