Transfers Have We Signed Gareth Bale Yet?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We can't compete for players at their peak but buying Bale would just be kicking the can down the road because he'll have to be replaced in a season or two. Conte's contract finishes next year, I know there is an option to extend but while he is here we should use his name to draw the best players we can.

You think we should use Conte to attract players for the future rather than use him as a means to compete now?

Seems at odds with the point of having him.

Gil? Apparent interest in Vidal. 2 juve bench warmers. Royal ? Could go on? Lazy? Only thing lazy is the DOF who seems to think there are footballers only in one country and who arnt even pulling up any trees there!

Please stop spamming the same ill-considered post in multiple threads.

Gil?
Sarr?
Royal?
Diaz?
Traore?

Yeh; well Itallian!

We can use Conte to compete now but we should also use his name to get the best players we can.
Is a 32 year old Bale (33 this year) going to make us that more competitive?

Bale at 33 isn't going to allow us to compete in a way that we weren't before. He is way past his best.
They're also looking at Vidal who's 34....this is not planning for the future. We're becoming the dumping ground for juve rejects and brilliant footballers slightly past their sell date. It's really pitiful. Parasite and Hitchens really need to go asap.

He’s started in the Madrid game that’s on at the moment

My thoughts: I think the main thing here is whether or not Conte would want him. If he does, fine. If not, also fine.

I’m not overly against him coming back, because he was one of the biggest contributors to the team last season. However, I do worry about his fitness and we don’t need any passengers. If it doesn’t cost us a stupid amount of money, then go for it I guess!

I'm starting to feel like I have the same answer to most questions. If Conte wants him I'm in favor of bringing him in. I have to assume if Bale is brought it in would mean Conte had a plan for using him. Personally, I have my doubts. Special players like Bale change the dynamics of a team. Things are adjusted to take advantage of their unique skills and they usually don't provide much off the ball. I know Ronaldo, for example, is an incredible player but has he made Manchester United better?

As I said in the other thread this was discussed in last week if he wants to come back and wants to play I have no issue with it providing it’s not with a silly salary. If it’s a low wage or pay-as-you-play deal there’s very little to lose.
I do not believe this is actually going to happen though. I really think he’s going to retire and focus on his golf. The only thing that might change that is the World Cup as I think Wales still have a chance of qualifying? I assume if that happens he‘ll want to be in the squad so will need to stay fit and be playing.
