Sometimes forget in that last season with us, he didn't have the likes of Modric and VDV to help him.

He had to put up with the likes of Holtby, Siggurdson, Clint Deuce Dempsey etc and be carried them all.

Must have been depressing for him to have that crap surrounding him just as he was becoming elite

Maybe, but he was always going regardless. The pity was that we weren't able to win anything with him, as he really began to bloom.

Extraordinary talent and yet didn't care too much for the game.

He was ok he knew what was coming thanks to that mouthpiece who worked him.
