Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He's finished at the top level. It's sad to say as he's been incredible for us for 7/8 of his nearly 10 years here, but he's done. He's a shit captain, and he's not delivering on the pitch.

I'm not buying all this tired talk when he can barely control the ball these days.
I knew this right from the start. A great vice captain, as he he's a great ambassador for the club and helping settle players, but we needed a tough guy as el capitaino. Someone who the players respect and intimidates them into never falling below a certain level of expectation.

Has to stay on the squad as a club ambassador and have the odd appearances here and there, but even as a bench player he looks finished. Would love to win a trophy for him, but he can't do it as an integral/crucial part of the squad anymore, his legs are totally gone. He turns as if he has cement in his boots.

He officially jumped the shark today!

If we're being honest, he's never really been the same without Harry beside him,

Yes, he filled in, but strikes me (no pun intended) as a great 'supporting' Actor, and NOT the lead man...

Plus, the guy is NOT Captain material.
Too nice, not vocal enough, and too far up the pitch to influence the rest of the team.

He's fast becoming a glorified t-shirt salesman right now!

...and it's a right proper SHAME too!

When is the last time we had that from a captain? I don't think we even have a player worthy of the arm band in the squad, and that's the biggest problem. No leadership in the dugout. No leadership on the pitch.

King was the last good captain? Vertonghen wasn't captain, but he was probably the last good leader we had.

Tottenham have grown concerned about the performances of Son Heung-min so far this season, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that they could move to replace the forward in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham concerned about Son Heung-min performances

Ange Postecoglou’s side have struggled so far this season, dropping to 14th in the Premier League table with just eight wins from their 24 games so far.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience working with players at the top level including over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Son’s drop in performances has been disappointing as he is viewed as their talisman.

Bergvall has done well for them, Archie Gray has done well, and Kulusevski has done well,” he told Football Insider.

“But I’ve been disappointed in Son and the way he’s been playing this season.

“He’s started to find a bit of form recently, but he doesn’t look like the same player he used to be.

“The manager, the club and the team have needed him to step up and carry the flag, but he hasn’t.

“That, I hear, is a bit of a concern for the coaching staff because he’s supposed to be their talisman.

“For the last few years he’s been so consistent and reliable, he scores goals he gets them up the pitch and he’s running in behind.

“But now the goals have started to dry up and he looks to have slowed down a bit.

“He’s getting on a bit as well, what is he, 32?

“So perhaps he’s coming towards the end of his time playing in the way he has been for years, in terms of his ability to make those runs in behind with pace.

“That’s something they’ll have to determine in the summer, and perhaps go and sign somebody to provide some competition, unless that’s what Tel has come in for.”

I think Kulu is as close to the mentality that is needed for a captain - the problem is that he's too hot and cold - you can't have a captain who performs well only 40-50% of the total games per season. I guess this is why someone like Jordan Henderson was so successful at Liverpool - as we know there's nothing spectacular about the way he played, but he would consistently do a respectable 7/10 job each game and keep all the players in check. No nonsense, stern and not afraid to give one of his players a good hiding but also stand up for them if they got in a scrap.

King IMO is totally unique in terms of the outward characteristics you'd expect from a captain - a quiet and gentle sort, but he led by example in the sense that he let his performances do practically all the talking.

If Romero is still here next season (and I think he will be, he's not as good/desirable as he thinks he is), I think he'll be captain. Otherwise Maddison.

Agree about Kulu, too hot/cold and in/out of the lineup.

Longterm I think we're hoping Gray develops into that.

Romero....meh. I don't think Gray has a proper nasty side to him, whilst Bergvall does I think. Bergvall is also a straight talker I think....just from observing him in interviews with Kulu and seeing him talk with the ref and opposition players on the pitch. Anyway, what's the point in this discussion, it's not too far off us discussing who we think which under 9's youth team player of ours is most likely to be our captain in 2065. All sensible discussion needs to be banned for the next couple of weeks and we should be allowed to just go full blown autistic screeching for the foreseeable future.... :walker-scream:

Son and kulu need the week off , they shouldn’t even train and put them both on the bench on Sunday . It’s painful to watch them both at the moment , I’d hate to see the stats of losing possession. Kulu has forgotten that he needs to take the ball with him when he runs . Honestly I’ve never seen a player like him .

Just adds more fuel to the baffling conflagration of our January window.

I'm a broken record but the moment Solanke and BJ went down so did all of our goals and access to goals. Relying on Richarlison and Son to compensate was mind bogglingly naive.

Tel might be a good player in the future but we needed goals in the window if we had any interest in progressing in the domestic cups.

Now we're out.

The fact that he likes Kulu makes him a poor scout

Impossible to overestimate how playing every single game can wreck a player and make him useless.

Really quite irresponsible for Ange and Levy to let this happen.

Son always had flaws, his first touch often dodgy, not much physical strength but he always had explosive movement and a brilliance sense of finishing. The decline is painful, he is a great player who is having his Vertoghen moment, the legs just aren’t what they were and for pace reliant players that is fatal.

The club selling Kane and seeing Son get old has been negligent. Losing one world class player in Kane and one just below world class in Son is brutal. Son is basically stuck out on the pitch the decline for all to see and it’s just a sad watch.

When everyone is fit again I just don’t see Son as a starter anymore, Tel, Odoburt, Moore need to be running the wings going forward.
