Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

There are two ways to treat Son:

1. Play him in his best position - as a 2nd striker, and look to play him in when he makes diagonal runs form left to centre.
2. Let him go and play for a team that will play him in his best position, and celebrate him as a legend who gave his best years to a club who did not try and win trophies.

What we should not do is play him out of position in a system that does not suit him, receiving the ball with his back to goal on the wing, and expect him (at nearly 33 years old) to make high intensity sprints to defend the gaping holes down our left hand side as the LB is playing as an inside forward.

If he was available on a free transfer this summer I can see him going somewhere like Liverpool where he'd be deadly in their LWF position for a season.

Watch him get a second wind under Ange’s successor if he’s played to his strengths, not as a touchline winger and has his minutes managed!

Son is no Salah. Clearer now than previously, when there were arguments about who the better player was. Conclusive now in its answer.

He is also not the player he once was. Again obvious.

What he should be more than anything is an impact sub. That's not happening, hence the criticism.

Let's see if he finds something before he leaves the club but what a servant.
Just damaging his legacy week in week out now... a player of his talent should be winning things but he along with nearly every other player in our squad do not possess a winning mentality. It is okay to lose, okay to be 16th/17th in the table, okay to be knocked out of cups... there is no consequence especially when this guy is captain... turns on the waterworks when he should be fuming with himself and his fellow team mates... I don't want to hear it's Ange's fault, the system doesn't suit him... it's all bullshit... if he is hear next season we are truly fucked!!!

People just need to accept that it doesn't matter who he plays for now, he's half the player he once was, is only going to get worse still, and isn't going to "cook" anywhere. He's now a decent player to have on the bench who you can bring on to try and make an impact against tired defenders.

in no way comparing son to the front 3 PSG had. but look whats happened since they got rid of them 3 and went with 3 energetic, hungry wingers that dont have anywhere near that level of ego....the side is farrrr better off for it and they look genuine faves for the CL now. football is about balance, it never was and never will be about individuals. the games about synergy.

He has never played as a second striker at Spurs. He has always played off the left. Those diagonal runs you talk about use to be dangerous because he was quick... hate to break it to you but he isn't quick anymore and I wager a bang average league 1 full back can cover that movement today. I have seen him receive the ball moving forward with a full back out of position a dozen times since the international break and on all bar one of those occasions he has passed backwards, sidewards or cut inside and lost the ball... you are clutching at straws if you think Liverpool would be interested in that bollocks... he would not get ahead of Diaz, Gakpo or for that matter Chiesa. In fact if Liverpool offered a swap I'd take the Chiesa tomorrow.

Sort of but they still signed a top 3 LW in kvara, already had a player who was huge talent in dembele and signed argubaly the second biggest talent in world football right now in Doue. We cant do any of that

na we cant. but theyve swapped out the best player of all time, neymar and mbappe, got 3 hungry wingers in who dont have anywhere near that level of ego and look how much of an improvement its made.

the 3 they have now work better, all are good players and theres no dick measuring going on. point is, the games about the team, not individuals. sons a busted flush, has been for a while, we need to move on. no room for sentiment in this game, it will hurt ya.

Under Mourinho and Conte he played off Kane as a second striker .his starting position was on the left. But he ran diagonally thru the middle .

Echoes of us signing Werner, Johnson and Richy to replace Kane
