Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just FYI, in League games this season he is:

#1 - Non Penalty Goals
#1 - Goals above xG
#5 - Assists
#5 - xAssists which is the best measure for a players potential assist contributions to a team. For instance, Jan's "assist" in Son's Burnley goal when he dribbled past 8 players would get no credit by this measure. Son has overtaken Kane in xAssists.

Not bad if you ask me.

He'll be a POY candidate this season and finish in the top 15-20 in the Ballon Dor rankings.

fuck me you are one cringe bag. van dijks 5 a side team! who gives a fuck

son scores more than modric, iniesta, xavi and zidane, i suppose that means hes better than them too

grealish is a better footballer than son..the only people that would say otherwise are biased spurs fans or little son fanboys like yourself
.

just for a laugh...what players would you swap son for?
At your first point.. I said it was less relevant. Obviously you can't read.. (or probably see hence this discussion)

In terms of who I would swap for Son... it would reallistically have to be someone in his position. And I honestly think there are very few players in the world better in that position. But you could say Salah, Mbappe, Neymar (think they are all arguably better and play in similar positions). Then someone like Sancho as he is younger but still really good and has potential to be better. On the top of my head there are not many others that I would swap.

Good to know that I am considered a biased Spurs fan now!

Usually I am accused on being the exact opposite.

He doesn’t seem to be getting into goal scoring positions are much as previously.
The opposition defenders are not letting him. And that’s because our attack is too focused on Son & Kane, they get crowded out.

I’m hoping that Bale will balance out the defence aginst our attackers, meaning Son’s scoring should pick up too. But Mourinho has to keep playing Bale, despite his defensive shortcomings.

This team has to attack, we have players who are suited to attacking, and I really am not sure if Mourinho is the right manager.

we are all biased to some degree, just some a lot more than others

I think that is a pretty poor argument that just because Son plays for Spurs those that support him are biased. A little actual support for that position would make your argument stronger or we basically can't discuss any transfer talk with our players if it is automatically assumed that we are too biased to properly judge them.

I have given multiple reasons why I don't think Grealish would be a better fit for us than Son, if you disagree fair enough but to just dismiss it as bias is pretty weak.

He can't.

Why do you keep talking as if Grealish wants to play for us. You're talking as if Son is the reason why we can't get him lol

Are you and the same person? Be honest.

they are both trolls roaming around the Son thread all the time. so basically we can call them the same persona.

someone else made the point you could probably get 80m for him right now and it is the most youd get for him as hes only going to devalue from here. i said if we could get that and get grealish for a similar amount we would of upgraded.

sons good in an open game of football, players like grealish are good in open and also against teams that sit deep and get compact..sons a waste of space in them games. i would like to keep son, but if selling him now means getting a better footballer then why wouldnt anyone want that?

If we got 80 million for Son and then wasted it on Grealish that would be incredibly frustrating.

If we are selling Son lets at least upgrade our team.

if that's your logic, why dont we sell everyone and get a better footballer for the team's shake?
Did Grealish agree to join Spurs or what? Why don't we sell Lamela, Berwijin, or Moura to get Grealish?
Then we would have both Son/Grealish right? What I'm saying is your arguments absolutely make no sense.
You are just targeting Son and harassing him. Your intention is vile and nasty.
So just shut the fk up and stop pretending to be making a fair/reasonable arguments because
you are ABSOLUTELY NOT.

grealish is an upgrade imo and a big one

the second bale goal shows exactly how son can let us down in them moments. the ball to bale swings outwards giving him more to do even tho the defence is beaten, if he passes it with the inside of the foot bale is one on one with the keeper, because he goes outside the foot bale then has to beat the defence again as it allows them to recover and gives them a chance to block his shot...but people just see a son assist so thats ok

They might not mind that, but no one you have suggested is actually a better footballer. That's the point...

Realistically, if we sold Son for big money then not only are there only a few better players in his position.. but those few wouldn't come to Spurs. I would much rather we focused on selling off some of our under performing players and keeping our best players than the other way round.

Imagine this:

Scenario 1:

We sell Son for 80million, and manage to land (somehow) another player of his level or even slightly better in his position.

Scenario 2:

We sell one of our under performing right backs or CB's for 15 million and maybe one of our least used forwards (such as LM, EL or SB for another 25 million) and get someone who is clearly a level better than our existing defenders.

Now..

Question 1: Which scenario would improve our team more?

Easy - Scenario 2

Question 2: Which scenario is more realistic and easier for it to happen?

Scenario 2 also.. as it's not hard to update on some of our current defenders. But upgrading on Son (and having that player actually want to come to us) is a lot lot more difficult.

A big one??? Come on,

There aren't many players in the world that are a big upgrade on Son.

It's not worth it to go back and forth, Grealish is not an upgrade and not near anything close to 80 million. If we got 80 million I hope we would spend it a lot better than all on Grealish that would be a ridiculous amount of money for him.

If he wanted to go, I'd be gutted, but understand.

I'd be up for Scarlett, if he's ready, or this type of guy (presuming a Foden type wonderkid isn't sitting with a Preston type club):

Then throw the money at CB

give it a year and well see if your opinion has changed. if grealish goes in the summer it will be for min 70m

I doubt it will, I know what Grealish is all about and it isn't that I don't think he has talent just not a great fit for us (or other big 6 teams) and certainly not worth anything close to 80m. He seems like a great big fish in a small pond player that does better when he is able to be the man for a team that needs him to do it all. I have big questions about his ability to integrate into a better team in which he is not the best player and isn't allowed to dominate the ball as much as he does. To me he hasn't shown much indication that he would do well in that set up.

If someone wants to overpay for him at 70m great for them I think that money can definitely be much better spent.
