Besides my point isn't just about intl duty, he's been injured domestically and we have been told he'll be out for x amount of matches only to recover pretty quickly.

Except when he breaks an elbow. Maybe he’s just a bit soft when he picks up an injury or plays with one when he shouldn’t?
Problem is who is going to replace him? Who will score the goals?
He has to start since we do not have a quality backup. Gil is too young, Berg is injured and can't buy a goal..
He doesn't score when he's playing poorly. He went a span of 14 games scoring 2 goals last season. That's not good at all.
He does and can score when playing poorly. He is our top scorer in the prem this season.. but according to many.. he has been playing poorly.

Sure other wingers around the league/world go missing at times too but the difference is, they get dropped when they're not playing well.

We have 3-4 other wingers that can play LW.
Give one of them a shot to prove themselves when Son isn't playing well.

And Lucas has been more or less one of our best attackers this season so he's nothing to scoff at. He's been pulling his weight too.
Gil is still young and is not known to be a goal scorer. Played in 12 scored 0 against subpar teams. (He believe he will get better)
Lucas has been good so he is starting on the right not left.
Berg can't score for a lick.
We all know Dele is not the answer....
