It feels pretty common but I'm not keeping a tally tbf.
You have to admit, it's usually reserved for situations where a player has been outstanding individually and deserved to be on the winning side, or a team has lost after coming heart breakingly close, like on penalties or last kick of the game.
Getting spanked 4-1 by an all round superior team isn't the usual circumstance for it, nor can I think of anyone else who has a reputation, deserved or otherwise, for crying a lot.
I think that there is something to it, even if it's not every other weekend.
The aforementioned Suarez & Neymar haven't been..... It's also Sonny's moment of magic that got them into the knock-outs.
We know Sonny's been carrying the weight of a nation... Bearing in mind SK aren't expect to win the WC; it's all relative.
More broadly; we're talking a guy that is an absolute gem for us on and off the pitch...... Digging him out over this seems needlessly spiteful (especially the glee with which some of it has been delivered)...... Leave that to the oppo, IMO.
