Went stale because there was no future planning just run them into the ground. Some of this is on Poch but in hindsight with some of the money offered should have cashed in. Fans at the time would have gone mad so to The boards credit (begrudgingly) they stood firm. This is something (selling on and having someone better coming in) we need to work on. You just know that ENIC have done fuck all
succession planning for Kane, Son etc. keep
playing the turkeys from the Poch era.
Yeah the fans would have hit the roof only untill the next man steps up, because of the lack of strategy we were unable to sell these players and move on. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying sell all our top players but when the likes of Eriksen didn't wanna be here we should of sold we didn't benefit from keeping him or others when they wanted to move on.

Dele was a poor trainer most football people know that it isn't sustainable to keep going at the highest level without being a total pro.

Players and managers come and go regularly, the club has to maintain a standard and clear idea. The board hasn't been maintaining this.

Were stuck because we tried to take a short cut with Mourinho and in fear of losing some players got a "winner" in.

Were in a right mess at the minute with DOF and manager issues and no clear direction from the club.

Money is not the problem. We have spent a lot of money since the stadium was built. The problem is that we do not have a clear football strategy or a competent transfer operation. We bring managers of the wrong profile and buy expensive shit players.

Levy said we wanted to return to the attacking DNA of Tottenham then hired Nuno. That is like Woolwich hiring Sean Dyche. There is clearly no understanding of football within the boardroom based on that hiring. We do not have any football principles or vision for the team. I believe that is one of the first things that Conte said when he arrived, that we had a great vision off the pitch but were missing a vision on the pitch.

Then there’s the players we sign. We have £150m worth of players that we’ve had to send away on loan because they are so bad. We have players who cost £30-40m sitting on our bench doing nothing. If we go above £25m on a player it is a virtual guarantee of failure. We do not have any idea how to sign players. We look at quality players but never seem to actually sign them. We seem to spend “big player” fees on dodgy players that no other club is interested in. How did we end up paying £50m for Lo Celso? £40m for Sanchez? £30m for Sissoko?

More money is not going to help us until we have people with quality football knowledge running the football club.

Agreed, Levy is ignorant on football, same as much of the board, far more sense on this forum on on the pitch issues than our board. We are run as a business and only a business, the game itself is like some weird alien life form.

Woolwich could be about to do it, they aren’t spending that much more than us and Liverpool’s spending was powered by the sales of Suarez and Couthino.
I think it helps that Woolwich were gifted two top class players on the cheap by artetas mate at City.

Also Liverpool succeeded by spending big on a few excellent players (alisson and vvd) in addition to clever purchases (robertson).

Whereas spurs try to spread money across multiple signings to increase chances of a ROI

We have bought players over the last couple of years that have a similar profile & cost to the types bought by Woolwich since Edu has been there - difference is they are further along their path of rebuild than us. Another couple of windows with similar buys as last summer & jan and the squad will be in a better shape and we'll have less/none of the dross from the Hitchen years impacting the first team.

No arguments we stacked the squad with a huge amount of shit since leaving WHL
