Manager Igor Tudor

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

3 at the back would not be the worst with our squad. We are definitely not suited for 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 because our wingers are so lacking. Been thinking 5-3-2 or 4-4-2 would be worth a shot, though we lack the central midfield quality for 4-4-2.

Unfortunately, with all the injuries, we don't have a lot of flexibility at the moment.

According to the latest reports (February 2026), Tottenham have indeed reached a verbal agreement with Croatian coach Igor Tudor. He is expected to take over as interim manager until June after the club decided to part ways with Thomas Frank.

Here is a breakdown of who he is, his credentials, and his football philosophy:

**Who is Igor Tudor?**

Igor Tudor (born 1978) is a former Croatian international defender best known for his time as a player at Juventus (1998–2007). As a manager, he has established himself as an intense and at times controversial figure who rarely stays long at his clubs, but who often delivers an immediate impact on results.

**Managerial Career Highlights**

Tudor has an extensive but somewhat nomadic career behind him, having managed clubs in Croatia, Greece, Turkey, France, and Italy.

- **Most recent role:** He left Juventus as recently as October 2025 after a brief spell of 24 matches.
- **Notable achievements:**
- Won the Croatian Cup with Hajduk Split (2012/13).
- Led Marseille to a third-place finish in Ligue 1 (2022/23).
- Had a major breakthrough at Hellas Verona (2021/22), where the team scored freely and finished in the top half of the table.
- Has a reputation as a "firefighter" who has successfully kept clubs like Udinese in Serie A during difficult periods.

**What style of football does he play?**

Tudor's football is often described as "structured chaos" with extremely high intensity.

- **Tactical setup:** His preferred formation is 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-3, favouring three centre-backs and attacking wing-backs.
- **Aggressive pressing:** He frequently employs a strict man-to-man defensive system across the entire pitch, similar to the style associated with managers like Gian Piero Gasperini or Ivan Jurić.
- **Verticality:** Rather than slow, possession-based football, Tudor wants his teams to transition at lightning speed, with the focus on winning the ball high up the pitch and moving directly towards goal.
- **Management style:** He is known for setting extremely high demands on his players, both physically and mentally. This has sometimes led to friction within the squad, but has also resulted in underperforming teams quickly receiving an injection of energy and a winning mentality.

Igor Tudor is often described as a manager who "gets 120%" out of his players in a short space of time, which aligns well with Tottenham's need for a rapid turnaround as they currently sit in 16th place in the Premier League.

So they brought in a guy who has a record of being a serial relegation avoider. I guess drastic measures, and he'll be gone at the end of the season, no matter what.
Yup, sounds like plan is was to get Poch back all along.

They could have got any permanent after Frank. But the fact they wanted an Interm means Poch after the world cup, most likely.

Which means, the were hoping that Frank could see the season out and then fuck him off.

Which is why, little business was done in the Window.

But Frank was just getting worse and worse, and they had no choice, but to pull the trigger.

I don't like interims.. But he's here now so...

He had proper playing career.. Played for Juventus and Croatia.. So the players can't be thinking "PE teacher" vibes. There will be or should be some immediate respect for someone who had a career at the top level.

Just after some internet surfing, it seems that one of the things he was praised for in that initial few months at Juventus. was man-management and lifting up morale that had been on the floor. Considering our players have had a face on since October, thats an early priority.
i've been saying for years we need high level former players to command respect from our spoiled squad. my friend says tudor is a hard ass about running and playing hard. you do it or you sit on the bench. i have a good feeling about this

Yeah, I think you nailed it. Poch all the way and at least they get the fans off their back, as long as they spend properly in the summer.

Not exactly inspiring but, to be honest, it's all on the players now.

They need to run through a fucking wall for this guy. 12 games. He's only an interim. Doesn't matter if they rate him.

It's their responsibility.

If Levy was still there, he would have shit his pants having to tell a brand new Spurs manager "All we expect from you is to avoid relegation"

How the mighty have fallen.

i think we've always had way too much meddling from the ownership and it used to be levy doing it and now it's the idiot kids of joe lewis.
They need to get proper football people in at that level and leave them to get on with it.

Paul Barber’s a serious football man, he’s Spurs to the core and he’s built Brighton from a perennial football league side into the well oiled machine they are now. Give him the keys to the kingdom, sell it to him as he’ll be the man to single handedly return us to where we should be, and that the Lewis family will keep their noses out of it other than to hand over money when we need it.

Hoping that not playing this weekend end, gives us time for one or two with little niggles to come back...

Not unless lady fate has fucked us again.
