Manager Igor Tudor

Redknapp would at least get the players fighting a bit.
Again, this is just superstition and hokum.

Ed Miliband was the Labour leader the last time 'Arry managed a Premier League game, and that team finished bottom. (Incidentally Tim Sherwood ALSO last managed a Premier League game in 2015 for a team that finished bottom)

"The idea of what Harry Redknapp was in 2008" is not a human being that exists in 2026. If it were, I would hire it too.

We have precisely zero room for make-believe at this stage.

Anyone know if the club "confirming" he will take charge of Fridays presser, is anything other than a formality of them sending out media invites, as they would for any match. Or have they actually stated it as a response to speculation of him getting tinned?

So who then?

Redknapp, but without the personality or media love
So...nothing.
If you can put the "football iz football innit" stuff to one side for a moment, Mason has extensively worked with almost our entire team in the past, with much greater success.

He's not starting from zero, which is about the only lifeline we can reach for here.

The only other person that's true of is Ange, who I doubt would accept the job and is probably a worse idea anyhow.

Well, we can't get Pep or Klopp or Zidane.

Mason knows the players, their personalities, their strengths and weaknesses, the way they can fit together tactically. There's no learning curve, which even Pep or Klopp or Zidane would need, and which we can't afford. Almost all of our players have been much better versions of themselves under Mason's tutelage in the recent past. They know he knows they have more than what they are showing.

Plus he's Tottenham to his bones, which will calm the home crowd situation as much as it can be, and he's a ruddy-cheeked local English lad which will calm the media situation (which the players are hearing every day, believe me) as much as it can be. They'd rather 'Arry or Sherwood of course, but those are non-viable ideas. Maybe as some sort of assistant but that might be too clever by half.

The situation needs calm, simplicity and clarity. It's simply too late to bring in an outsider. We had options three weeks ago that we don't have anymore. And the Big Sam Brexit Ball relegation rescue operation cliche is a long outmoded superstition, that would be a huge mistake.
Can see both sides - but if this group of players aren’t doing what they’re expected to (even down to ‘run around a lot’) then who will they run for? We know there’s some talent in there, but they’re not even playing to half of their potential in some cases.

A lot of limited footballers but neither Frank nor Tudor’s way of playing is that complex that a self-respecting professional can’t manage it. Yes, the systems aren’t exciting, but it’s not even that hard to stay in position and cover runs. Players are either mind-numbingly dense or have downed tools wiht no real justification.

Mason might work, might not. Bearing in mind that would be coach four in less than a year, I’m thinking likely not.

Hoddle (heard of him?) got the Champo teams selection playing passing footie on the ground after one training session, v Italy Serie B I think. Peter Taylor (heard of him?) got the cloggers of fucking GILLINGHAM playing footie on the deck from the off.

Just having a defence FFS would be better than this idiot.
yeah what you are doing is take a tiny sample size and assuming that is the norm. In reality managers have very little proper impact. What you are referring to is variance.

Just a question, but what boots would have been best for last night?
I predominantly wear astro turfs as i play on 3G.
I also have worn astro on normal turf too and no problems unless the turf is drenched through.

Must admit when playing, i wouldnt think twice about the surface, i just stick my boots on and play, so yeah i just want to know what kind of boots would have been suitable rather than moulds.

:ange-hmm:
Surely they travel with a selection? What I saw of the second half suggested it was less terrible so they probably changed at half time?

It has to be Mason and it's going to be Mason, I feel pretty certain.

It is just too late for an outsider. Three weeks ago we had options, now we don't.
If Mason is the option, I'm tempted to see it out with Tudor instead.

Nothing real new, and no natural authority. Not at all confident he can come in and change things to the better.

Have you already forgotten how he used to pick his friends as first on the matchsheet, however flat their last games had been?

And it was also a different time. Most relatively successful clubs are much more ‘elite’ than they used to be. Not ‘70s Brazil elite, but pretty sound from front to back.

Low quality characters throughout the squad
Say amonglahor. A man so void of personality I'm not convinced he's actually human.

It probably will end up being Mason.
He probably won't be able to do anything to affect these twats in any way shape or form.
They apparently liked Ange, didn't stop them losing every week.

We tried old achool authority with Tudor and it's not working at all.
Under Mason it would just be Romero picking the team and maybe the players will respond better to that.

And kill the back 3 ffs
