Pretty sure that Ange will be gone even if we win EL. It would be pure Spurs to sack the manager that broke a trophy drought and qualified for CL.

Unfortunately without significant investment into our current squad I fear our next manager will only be another short term fix. Still too many players in the squad that are inconsistent and unreliable.

I notice you joined August 2023 and seem to be blaming investment rather than the manager.
Are you a Spurs fan or an Ange fan?

I mean lets face it... The mood will dramatically swing if we win the Europa league (won't happen but IF). It would be pure euphoria! Its impossible to say now exactly how you'd feel towards Ange if such a thing was to happen.

Being cold and calculated, the right thing to do is sack Ange. We've seen how bad its got this season and thats enough evidence for him to be gone and for us to try something new. BUT emotions will run high after such a big win and there could easily become a narrative to give him one more season.

Similar to when Moyes won West Ham the Conference cup, or when Ten Hag won the FA cup last year. It papered over all the cracks and fans were quick to change their minds. Both sets of fans knew they were going nowhere under Moyes and Ten Hag but the emotional joy of winning a cup on the last day of the season clouded any calculated judgement. Modern day football is the most reactionary world - you are often only as good as your last result! So if our last game of the season was winning a Europa League cup under Ange, then you could easily end up with a false narrative all Summer that "Hey Ange isn't actually that bad".

So I can sort of weirdly understand the narrative around some fans not wanting us to win the Europa League this year. There is a big chance it would only paper over the glaring cracks and we'll regress even further next year. We need a fresh start regardless of how we do in Europe.

If we win the Europa league, it'll be a fluke and it'll be despite him, not because of him.
The football has been awful for ages. Winning any cup at this stage is seriously papering over gaping chasms at this football club. If, and when, we finish between 15th and 17th, if a few acceptable performances in the ropey league are enough to turn fans back into happy clappers, then I'm not sure I want to be "in that number"

If he wins the Europa League he will be the most successful manager in our modern history.

In that scenario, he must be given at least another season, possibly two.

Otherwise, we will damage our reputation as a reasonable, good faith operatør meaning we will fail to attract any meaningful talent for a generation.

The culture in our fanbase is the root cause of our failures since 1991. We're unable to see the big picture, unable to reflect on our own toxicity, and incapable of genuinely supporting our team. Our ex-players often testify to this.

I remember being a Dortmund in 2019. We were at the beginning of this decline, although we didn't quite know it at the time. We won via a Kane finish. Our travelling support embarrassed themselves with their negativity amid the carnival atmosphere of the Dortmund stadium. They were on the losing side, but their support was resolute.
Why do you think he would be the one responsible for us winning it?
It's a team game. There's more players and backroom staff than there are Ange's.
Do you think Ramos should have been given 2 more seasons?

Yeah I agree with your assessment but I think your are underestimating what the euphoria of winning the Europa League would do. The narrative could easily change. I agree with you, there is no chance he turns our fortunes around. He's a beaten flush who's been totally exposed at this level. But as we've seen with Ten Hag and Moyes, its very hard to sack a manager after winning something and a lot of fans will move sides. I'd say its 50/50 he gets sacked if we win Europa. He's a certainty to be sacked if we don't. I actually think he'll be gone by Friday morning if we go out on Thursday.

Absolute rubbish. If we win the Europa it will be in spite of him. We have all seen enough from his "management and coaching" since he's been here, to know that he is definitely not managing us to a trophy. If we win it, it will be because the players stepped up on their own and got the job done.

Giving Ange another season or two, just because we won a few knock out games, is so so dumb it barely warrants a discussion. Look at our PL season, who in their right mind thinks we should give him another PL campaign, let alone two, because we won the Europa.

Fuck that. Anyone who even suggests that is completely stupid.

And blaming the fans as the root cause of our failure? fuck off. Our fans have been beyond patient for decades. These fans deserve success. Levy and right now Ange are the reason we are where we are.

I truly believe he is already gone. Whatever happens if we go out Thursday, he is gone Friday, if we happen to win Europa League he will be gone in the close season and big problem is the players know this as well, which probably does not help the atmosphere around training, game time etc....

United would have sacked ETH if they could get a replacement. That could be Ange's only hope, that Levy refuses to sack until he has a replacement.

He won't be here next season either way.
Think the more appropriate question is, if we go out of Europe Thursday then does he do the remaining league games?
If we somehow win the Europa League (more mental things have have happened in honesty) then he'll probably parade round the pitch with the trophy whilst calling everyone in sight a cunt. I won't begrudge him that.

I'd love it if we win the Europa League but even if we do Ange's time is up. I honestly can't bear the thought of another season of crap football, abysmal defending and a complete lack of desire from the team.

Why does Levy's condemnation of Glenn Hoddle in 2003 seem so relevant now?

"It is critical that I, and the board, have absolute confidence in the manager to deliver success to the club. Regrettably we do not."

We can pretty much copy and paste that 22 year old statement.

IF he goes on to win the Europa League; he has done exactly what many fans have been dreaming of. Winning a trophy and not acting like top 4 is the prize.

Our league form has been abysmal, but it would be good to remember that up until Game Week 13, we were just 3 points behind 2nd place; and had just thrashed CITY 4 nil at the Emerites.

Then the injuries hit.

What followed next was a woeful 1 win, 2 draws from 11 games. With the signings of Tel, Kinsky and Danso coming too late to rescue our premier league form.

It's pretty clear that with the limited squad availability we made a choice - focus on the cups. Bin off the league. Like it or not, that was the correct decision and, the ONLY available route back into Europe next season.

If we win it, it demonstrates that he made the correct decision and did what is best for the club and the fans. Trophy, and Champions League next season.

If we don't, his position becomes untenable since the relationship with the fans has become toxic.
Is a manager's run sustainable with a toxic relationship with the fans. My guess is whether he wins a trophy or doesn't that he has burned too many bridges. A very odd character.
