Are Referee's Reffing Us Out of The Premier League?

Such an awful call, and it really reveals the horrible state Arteta-ball has caught the rules in.

So much turns on the decision on the field, but it's so difficult to get the calls right in real time in a scrum like that.

They've got to just ban attacking players from the six yard box from corners until the ball is kicked.

It's also kind of grimly funny that in a four-man coming together, the only player who isn't trying to gain an unfair advantage there is Romero. Fernandes is wrestling VDV, VDV is pushing KWP, KWP is diving while dragging Romero with him, and Romero just minds his own business and scores.

The question is, why - in that instance - isn't it a penalty when the defender is cosplaying as Mickys backpack?

The standard of reffing is through the floor. Every single thing they said var wouldn't do they do. Almost everything is subjective in football, and they're trying to eliminate that when it's impossible.

The refs now rely on var to bail them out too much, which it doesn't always do because it wants to support the ref, so it's just supporting wank decisions week in week out. What's a 'clear and obvious error' for fuck sake. It's just a made up term that they can't define, so again it's just subjective and down to whoever is on the var that day. It's really fucked football, the implementation of it is appalling.

Sure. But it wouldn't be good for football to have nine million of those given either.

Shoving matches from corners are not football, cannot be adequately and consistently refereed, and the game just has to work its way out of those situations dominating the game.

It was a clear penalty just a few seasons ago. Unsurprisingly, Mikel Pulis's tactics have normalised into the refereeing standard.

WTF is this bollox?

The ref disallowed the goal, for VdV being pushed into the WestHam Player... It was a fucking goal and VAR had the time and blatant angles to show what happened, and it should never had been ruled off.

And I am sorry, if 99% of lesser leagues can get their VAR calls right, then the fucking richest league in the world can and be consistent.

Can someone answer a question .

How many actual PL referees are there ? and also how many refs are used in the VAR room ? as in is there a team 5/10/15 etc that are used throughout a season .

The slow mo’s completely change the context of the decision too. It’s just not fit for purpose (improved decision making in general), and takes more than it gives. It was meant for completely obvious howlers, of which you might get 5 per season in the PL but it’s being used to dissect x1000 as many minor decisions and it’s no more accurate on those than a ref in real time (perhaps marginally better)

It’s shit and equally hated in other leagues too

I think the point is that people sometimes forget the Spurs bubble they live in

380 matches a season, probably close to 100,000 refereeing decisions taking place.

That's an exorbitant amount of data to just cherry-pick 4 or 5 things because they happened to Spurs and claim match fixing when you dont even bring in the objective decisions that have gone FOR us to counter your own narrative.
Go back and look at the graphs showing factual stats that we're way out on our own. It's not even close.

Anyone see the penalty that title chasing Celtic got given by VAR last night?

Can someone explain to me rationally why the premier league would want a top 6 club, who are part of the clubs who earn them the most money, to go down?

It doesn’t serve any interest for us to be relegated. If you’re going to come up with a conspiracy theory there first has to be a plausible reason for a grand conspiracy against Spurs. In which all officials co-ordinate to relegate us. Which would require unreal levels of keeping people silent at the risk of the total collapse of the leagues establishment.

So no, it isn’t. People can argue subconscious bias or bad luck but anyone thinking it’s a co-ordinated plan against Tottenham is thinking totally irrationally. It makes no sense to do it nor would it really work.
Opening up a new major to contract on the championship tv rights?
Bribery?

Yeah the game is properly cooked and you’ve summarised why perfectly there. It’s getting worse every season and more clear either it is being used in some ways to manipulate results or that the system is so broken. From day one I’ve said VAR should be administered by an external body and it looks more correct by the week. I’m so desperate to get away from it I’m willing to drop out of the decision. It’s ludicrous.

Just reading through some of the specific game week controversies, they fail to include one of the most obvious red card offenses away to Sunderland with the Brobbey incident so I am not sure how accurate this really is tbh.
It’s bullshit. Who tf fills out those polls who isn’t biased? Do they pay an independent body of foreign supporters? Nope. Just plucking it out of theirmarse. There was a different list a few months ago which had totally different results. Although Romero was a twat in both.
