Are Referee's Reffing Us Out of The Premier League?

I don't think the PGMOL sits around a table and talk about who they want to win and what decisions they should make. I also don't think there are some brown envelopes being passed to ref's.

HOWEVER...

Some clubs will have more influence when putting pressure on PGMOL to officiate games in their favor. I have heard before of officials going into changing rooms before games and explaining how they intend to run the game - i.e. what type of challenges they won't tolerate and players around the ref etc...

There will also be a lot of pressure on officials to not make contentious decisions that would influence a major result. For instance, Woolwich fighting for the title are more likely to be awarded a borderline penalty vs mid table Leeds.

We have seen widespread corruption in other leagues - so it would be naive to suggest the Prem is entirely immune.

Most of these conspiracy theories fall apart when you consider the number of people that would need to be involved and, the potential ramifications.

IF PGMOL are working to influence the outcome of match to favor specific teams:

There are 19 Officials, and 29 assistant officials. + VAR officials. How many of them are in the know? How can you believe none of them will become a whistle blower? What's in it for them? Payments/gifts would be easy to trace. Can they all keep their mouths shut to friends and family?

If it were uncovered, ramifications would be huge. Prison sentences and collapse of major clubs. Again - how to the PGMOL ref's benefit from this???

Big conspiracy - Nope, I don't buy it.

Refs natural bias towards particular teams/players - likely.
Refs under pressure to not make bad decisions against the biggest teams - very likely.

Seriously, someone needs to ask them to compare the Xavi red versus the Troussard yellow.

How is what Xavi did worse?
Are you confusing Havertz and Trossard?

This is 0 red card Woolwich folks.

Could make an argument for this being a red too as it was a last man foul and wasn't given at all

Once you're "in" the risk of revealing what's going on is far too high: legal cost, fines and jail time and loss of your job in football circles, etc. Even the press is biased: I have never seen a blatant decision going against Spurs been seen as "outrageous" but the occasional decision that went in Spurs favor (like the Diaz off-side call) will be covered in the press for days, enver for weeks, afterwards...
It's navie to believe that the most lucrative football league in the world is totally free from corruption. What's going on is far too one-side for it to be a coincidence.

Sport is corrupt. Boxing has been rife with it forever.
There's been more than enough evidence of it all over the world in football.
The fact some naive fans here think it's not in our game is a bit mind blowing to be honest.

I think the only good thing to come out of what looks like Woolwich's title (and the way Celtic won on Sunday) is that it really has exposed the levels of 'interpretation to suit an agenda' that EVERYONE can see now!

It's got beyond blatant...
I'm still not sure whether this means WE will or won't survive as part of the pre-determined narrative...

But I've never been so sure it's gonna go to the last day now...
Top AND bottom...

Sky want their "AGUEROOOOO!!" moment back, and aren't afraid to stoop to any levels to get it!

But no, it's definitely not match fixing.
Definitely not fixed that the team about to win the league have avoided 3 nailed on red cards.
That 1 of the 2 teams fighting relegation has had dreadful, head scratching decisions against them all season, while the other one has handballed it in their box THREE times and got away with it

Have you noticed how any "big name" player has a shot these days and the Sky commentator absolutely screams his name, just in case it goes in?
If it was some academy kid no ones heard of, they barely say his name. If it's a Haaland or a Salah though.....

I think they teach it in "Commentator Classes" nowadays....
Peter upward inflection Drury is the worst "AT DOOOOOOIIIIING IIIIIIT???!"

The PL is a Multi-billion pound "company", effectively, and people think it's transparent, honest, and free from such things.

World mustn't have got to them yet.

It's an entertainment company at the end of the day.
If they see viewership dropping they would without question manufacture something to get those viewers back.
Heck, they could be preparing for life outside of City winning everything with the inevitable punishment so giving the momentum to Arse.

With the amount of money involved one has got to be pretty soft between the ears to think that it isn’t massively corrupted in some way. I mean there’s a refereeing scandal in Italy this season. Maybe they are just better at uncovering them?

everyone knows the 'boring' criticism of the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 is "the same team wins it every year", and La Liga is "it's one of the two", so there's a massive motivation to push for a team that hasn't won it for 23 years to prove that it is the most 'competitive' league.

Instead of, you know, treating every team equally...

I'm hearing the the Scums proposed victory parade will be slightly different from normal victory parades. The PGOL have been invited as they contributed more than any of the players.
And Michael Oliver being voted the Scums POTS is just a piss take.
Fuck em. They won nothing. The PL gifted it to them.

That is why, whenever there's a particularly exciting game taking place, Sky and BBC seem obsessed with banging on about it "being a great game for the neutral"... FUCK the neutral...

Anyone who goes to football to support ONE of THE TWO teams doesn't give two shits about the 'neutral'.... they're usually the cunts with the half-and-half scarves....
THEY'RE the problem, stop trying to appeal to THEM all the time!

Clearly Scottish football didn't get the memo...
They had the perfect chance at the weekend, but decided to just let Celtic keep winning it! ...What's that, 53/56 League titles now?? 🙄

At least everyone sees it for what it is...
No tin foil hats needed any more.... Just the common sense of right and wrong!
