It's time we talked about World Class

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Everyone has a different definition of world class, for me it would be something along the lines of playing in the best 11 and not looking too much out of place.

Eriksen - yes
Jan - maybe
Toby - yes
Dembele - yes if fully fit
Rose - not sure
Dele - not yet
Kane - definitely

Kane for me is the most out and out WC player we have, he is as good as any other number 9 in world football and the best forward in the prem.

World class though is all a matter of opinion.
Who would Kane compete with for no 9. In this world selection?
Suarez, Lewandoski, aubameyang?

Kane first pick?

Ok
I know that, but that's semantics. Primary team goal getter, if that helps everybody.

In our system though we would have

Suarez -- Eriksen -- Aubumuyang

Kane

In terms of Kane vs Lewandoski. Kane scored 29 in 30 in the league and Lewandoski got 30 in 33 in the league last season. Kane is 24 and Lewandoski is 28, and he has the Bayern team providing for him so it's not a clear cut thing.

In the prem only a full fit Aguero would challenge him and how often is that. You could put one or two strikers ahead of Kane but Kane wouldn't fall flat in a world XI. That's why I consider him world class.

Kane's the only world-class player we have. Most teams only have 1 if they're lucky. Where i think we excell is that we have a number that are very close to world-class. Toby, Dele, Eriksen, and Hugo are only a half-step behind, and Verts, Son, Danny, Mousa and Dier only another half-step behind them. All IMHO of course.

Dele is world class potential.

I don't disagree with either you or Sammy but we don't get to pick the teams. Any manager with a brain would buy him. I suspect that he wouldn't be first pick against the 3 I mentioned.
Even in Sammy's list

Yep we are very lucky to have Kane, thing is he ain't reliant on pace either so his football lifespan should be long. Clever player like him and previously Sheringham and Scholes can play at the very top to their mid to late 30's.

That means if he stays a minimum of 10-12 seasons of 20-30 goals plus.

For me it's eriksen because when he is in form it seems like the whole team plays better and in my opinion he is also one big reason for harry's many goals.

For me the only two unqualified world class players we have are Kane and Hugo. I would both in the top five of their positions, and would not be out of place on any team in the world (discounting styles of play, I just imagined Hugo playing the ball as much as he would at Barca.)

I absolutely love Eriksen but he suffers for the fact that his position is loaded with talent at the moment. I think he is probably the best AM in the league tbh but there is certainly a discussion between him, KDB, Hazard (who plays a very different game but same position), and others.

Dele certainly has the potential but I wouldn't take him over a great many AMs at the moment.

Toby might be, i just don't think I can judge defenders that well because they are less noticeable, especially when they are really fucking good, which is compounded by not watching much football outside the PL.

I would probably say that Moose is actually the closest to being world class behind Kane and Hugo, taking into account how almost every player that talks about him, on Spurs and other teams, say he is the best player they have played with/against. His skill set is so unique that it took years for him to find his best position at Fulham and here, so that slowed down his development and kept him under the radar. But if he was playing in the first XI of a big club like RM, Barca, or Bayern (which I think he absolutely could) he would be considered one of the best CMs in the world today.

Don't think anybody is in the class of Maradona, Pele, Platini. Messi, Ronaldo - that's my definition of world class - and that's fine by me.
Bale was considered a worldie, but that didn't really make us achieve anything.
Yes we have players who are coveted by 'bigger' teams, but hopefully we can continue to rebuff them.
Our strength is our team spirit and players who are allowed to play in their best position.
