This is exactly what I think. The move has regressed him as a footballer. He has actually gone backwards a real rarity under Pep.
He doesn't really suit their style but he's had some genuinely impressive games for them even if his stats are far from great.
A lot of people can only see an attacking players worth if they are scoring or assisting, and also seem to think their opinion holds more weight than Guardiola's.

He's just a very good player. Albeit one that can perhaps do more than he often shows.
He's a classic big fish in a small pond player. Every dribble and flick at Villa was celebrated because they dont have anyone else capable of doing half what he did. At City they have plenty and expect goals, assists and regular top performances. He's good and a fun player to watch at times but dont think he's a top club player.
