Player Jamie Donley

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Lucas Bergvall aged 18 (now 19) when he arrived at Spurs after playing 1,500 minutes in the Swedish league (rated well below Championship ..... can anyone remind me what league is below that ? ) and within half a season is most Spurs fans favourite player.

Jamie Donley now aged 20 has played 3,000 minutes in League 1 clocking up almost 20 Goal Involvements and impressed Pep playing ManCity, but clearly cannot be good enough as he's not come from a foreign league.

Some TFC posters never change.

Will he be given the same chances as Bergval though?

You know what the mindset at clubs is if they’ve paid to bring a player in, they always seem to play them over giving the HG kid a chance. Not saying he’s better than Bergval and might turn out to have a Dean Marney level career but they’ll never know unless they give him minutes with the first XI players and not a patched up team (if he’s at the required level in training).

Too soon to even discuss his future.

If Ange stays for at least start of next season - it is simple, keep him under superior coaches in Leyton in Championship.
Otherwise it is plain and simple, Donley would get only chances after our injury list is 15+ senior players long (even then totally out of main position cause "important thing is to get minutes"). And even if he'd step up and get MoM for most of his games, he'd still find himself on very end of the bench after senior players returning.
In that scenario should also leave Vuskovic and others on loan still.

But if we would appoint actually professional manager that has still more than 3 functioning braincell, then I absolutely would like to see Donley given a chance!

Bergvall benefited from Bentancur getting injured then getting himself suspended multiple games. Maddison injuries could open the door for Jamie.

Or we could move Maddison on he is both injury prone and inconsistent.

IMO we'd keep Maddison next season, but hope Donley is the side can provide cover for when Maddison is injured as well as other minutes to ensure Donley gets enough experience (lets say 1,500+ minutes - the more the better) to be considered a PL player by end of season.

That way we have a couple of creative players in squad next season. Devine might also stay at Spurs, he's more of a general CM very able to play DM, Box to box and AM so provide cover at AM as well .... but Donley really is a specialist AM and a level above other midfielders we have at Spurs (and at most clubs),

I like Jamie Donley a hell of a lot . As a player he has great vision as has been seen when he scored goals from the half-way line for Leyton Orient catching opposition keepers out of their area . He will be brought back to the club during the summer and put through his paces to see if he's at a decent enough level to fight for a place in the Tottenham senior squad . I know he'll have a very bright future in football . I just hope he can make the jump to first team regular for The Mighty Tottenham Hotspur .

I'm going to the play off game on Saturday against Stockport 12:30pm kick off . Let's hope for an Os win

I just have a whisker of hope that he might be able to help us.

But certainly a prime Champo loan if not, everyone will want him.
Unless Kulusevski bucks up hugely, his place is who I see Donley being in range of.

Maybe a season too soon, so hope he has patience with us. Unless we sign another 2 forward type players I think he should get first half the season, to see if he can tread water in the squad.

But, don’t want him limboing for 6-12months, Mason would certainly want him and Davies (and perhaps value him slightly higher knowing his pedigree closely).

Its a big jump to PL so it will take him a couple of months to adjust. But next season is the time to integrate him and give him minutes to share the creativity load with Maddison and Kulusevski, and I think we'll start to see him getting towards his best after Christmas (just as he did with Orient) He showed he could cope with Man City when playing for Orient, and really gave them a run for their money, so every confidence he can do the same at Spurs playing alongside better players.

By 26/27 he'll be holding a place on merit. And we'll start to get enough Club Trained players to have a full squad of players who are good enough

IMO, a waste to send him for a Championship loan next season as in 26/27 he'd still have to take a couple of months to adjust.

We need to integrate him into the first team squad. I'm not relying on Maddison being for, and I have doubts over what Deki can do for us this year.

I'm interested to see how Frank uses Bergvall. But certainly donley has a skillset that would be useful to us this season.

Really hope he is brought back into the main group this season. Some players develop quicker playing with top players and I think he could really break out this season staying with the main group.

His best position is in midfield as an AM or even CM, he can cover multiple positions across the forward line and Ange even played him a couple of games as LB in the pre season. If Frank wants to play wing backs then Donley would be suited by that as well.

I'll be so disappointed if they effing loan him out again.

Really high hopes for this young man - great football iq, technique and bleeds white. Love him back at the club if Frank thinks he can integrate him if not West Brom for a season!
