The elephant in the room is the wage cap - we can afford to buy plyers that would improve the team but struggle to to pay their wages.

Until we have the new stadium we will always go for the 2nd tier or 1st tier down on their luck.

Zamora asked for 90K - that is more than our top players get.

90k for Zamora is a fucking joke. I know big center forwards often command a bit of a premium, but 90k for a player that couldn't lock the starting spot at Fulham?

Surely he wasn't serious, just a matter of "I start high, you start low, we meet somewhere in the middle?"

So in summary for January transfer window thread:

90 pages,
1800 posts,
not a single ITK significantly spotted any of the major moves in, until after the event, and then claimed 'prior knowledge',
one young winger (already on loan) in and then out,
goodbye to our 'rushin bloke' (no doubt fuelling the 'fall out with joe jordan' rumours as being facts now)
Blackburn's crock for 6 months so we can attract greater quality players in the summer when we can cite 'CL' football (fingers crossed)
An Alan Partridge stylee 'sahaaa' to cover loss of pav ((tm) pending - 'Russian style icon') again acting in reliance of atracting better quality in summer.
Agent Bassong off to Wolves (to hopefully 'pingpong frimpong' to the point of being a eunuch)
And peanut returned to Everton.

ITK's? ITBS and IKsweetFA more like.

I blame twatter for the surfeit of bollocks this Jan.

Villa have spoke to spurs and £3million was offered for Pienaar; been told that Spurs want just under £5.1million. They won’t accept anything less. This comes from Villa and the conversation only happened less than an hour ago but Big Eck late to ground.
Tottenham source reckons Pienaar very much wants Everton return but Everton very reluctant to pay Tottenham’s fee and cant see them agreeing to it.

Graham Roberts on Talksport claiming that it's a fact that we bid for 'the lad at Marseille' (Remy I guess) and that he didn't want to move until the summer.

Ryan Nelsen wasn't common knowledge until about 10:50pm on Deadline day. He came out about noon and called everything, Bassong on loan to Wolves (unknown), Nelsen in (completely unknown, no way could anyone have guessed that), said that Pav had been sold (correct) and he also said the night before that a left field striker was going to be joining tomorrow, and then the media immediately picked up on Saha. He's definitely ITK, no doubt about it.
 
I trawled through, ITK posts, rumour, speculation, news articles - not just from the UK but France, Spain, Italy and Brazil.

From what I can see there where four bits of spot on info that AT THE TIME no one else had reported

POTL calling Townsend on loan to Leeds

JJetset saying we had bud for Pav from a Russian club but where waiting for others before we accepted (though this info could have been easily accepted - a club name and the amount would have made it 100%)

The Mail saying we were loaning Falque - when we didn't even own him. That was spot on even though we all thought it was batshit crazy

JJetSet virtually word for word saying what Redknapp said in his post match interview. He was the first to mention Ryan Nelsen. And the first to say Bassong to wolves when it was widely speculated his deal to QPR was on/off.

I'm gonna go through the thread this weekend, but they are the ones that I remember standing out

It's also easy to tell who to just ignore next window. If I do this against there is already a short list of ITK to just ignore.

There are two valuable consequences of this service you have provided. First, we know whom to (better) trust. Second, we now know a bit more about what the club is thinking from what these ITKers present that does not come true.

Say one of them starts going on about Messi in the summer. It won't be just a windup--it might signal that the club is actually trying to figure out a way to make it happen. The deals that don't get done are, in some ways, as important as those that do, as they also tell us about the club. Where it perceives weakness, what kind of targets it feels are worth the effort, etc.
 
The thing to remember that a lot if the ITK info is 2nd or 3rd hand. The further it is from the source the more the Chinese whispers effect kicks in. The lower down the chain the ITK the less reliable.

Now, I would suggest that the source of JJetsets info is well in the loop on an hour by hour basis, where as a few other ITK may well be genuine but the source is out the loop and the info old.

Who's the source? Someone in the physio team? A scout? The teenager who mans the fax machine? A player?

Each one will hear different bits of info and the person who posts it may not have heard it directly from these people.

Looking back it is easy to separate the JJetset's from The Journalist's and the WUMs

If an ITK is low down the chain, doesn't that mean they aren't ITK?
