You lot do realise that the only basis for this "Bale to Spurs in January" talk is something that Berbatov said the other day in his role as "Betfair ambassador", whatever that is.

"If he were to return to England I think Spurs would be the ideal club for him. He knows their philosophy... Mourinho might try to sign him in January"

And then again, he might not.

As I keep saying, he is on astronomically high wages - £275,000 a week AFTER TAX basic, he hit his add-on targets last season which took him to £325,000 net a week. We'd be asking him to take something like a 75% cut in pay.

It's widely reported here that Florentino Pérez won't sell Bale for less that €80 million, that's around £67 million. The largely unreliable DiarioGol website reckons Madrid would give us Bale for Eriksen plus £42 million.

However you look at it, the numbers don't add up, even less so when it's clear our priorities lie elsewhere
Bet you go round telling kids Santa is not real and it's their parents leaving gifts....

Don't want Bale tbh.

He's lazy, selfish and will never give 100% for the club, wouldn't surprise me if he probably thinks he's bigger than us now.

Dani Olmo would be ideal and he's available for peanuts, 25m.

Can we spend 67m on a CB instead please. :)

Even if it were financially possible, I don’t think Bale wants to come back here. I don’t think he views us that much differently to Southampton, we are a lesser, stepping-stone club to him and if he stays in Europe he will expect to play for an elite club. He’s never spoken about us with fondness the way players like Modric and Walker have.

His body is knackered now anyway, we wouldn’t get our money’s worth out of him.

Your probably right it's the memory of what he was as opposed to what he is now. Truth is Dyabala WAS the player to replace Moura but that's dead now. Can't believe Juve almost let it happen. Olmo is probably next best.

Not that I disagree with you, but he's not getting those wages anywhere (well, China aside).

If he wants to continue to play in Europe, he will have to halve this wages, if not more. And quite right too, he's not the same asset either as a player or in terms of the years ahead of him.

He doesn't want to do that, hence the impasse. No one else will pay him that money.

I don't believe Levy has ever or will ever have any interest whatsoever in bringing back Bale.

We buy the same player over and over and over again. Young players with real talent and class who have shown something and established themselves in senior football in a respected league and who project to improve and become more valuable over the life of the contract we sign. And that concept has worked.

Edgar Davids is the only Bale-type signing ENIC have ever done, and for a variety of reasons I think that kind of move is less likely now.

Remind me again, who was this?
Turns out that I am mixing him up with someone else. Steve Walsh (who scouted Kante, Vardy, Mahrez etc) came to Leicester with Pearson from Newcastle. But I remember that a couple of people in our scouting were recruited to Leicester around the time that our old sporting director/DOF got canned. So that is probably why I am mixing them up.

Walsh is unemployed according to Wikipedia after a "failed" stint at Everton.

Yeah Leicester "stole" one of our scouts. Don't remember who but I think it was after Kante and Mahrez had joined
