Might be an unpopular opinion, but they are far too raw. They need at least 3 years of experience in a good side to be worth our attention.

On paper Anderlecht is an exciting project, but they are in a deep crisis. Young talent needs to play alongside experienced players and win most matches to develop into star players. Right now they only have potential and a club without the structure to develop them.
Yes, they are not ready yet for England which makes total sense but the talent is there. Kana is 17 and is pure class imo.

They should be on our radar already. We should have snapped up Tielemans for example. Still pisses me off that we missed out on him.

Indeed we should have snapped up Tielemans, but not when he was still an 18 yo at Anderlecht. Even though back in his days, Anderlecht still won titles...

In my opinion, it is very unlikely those 3 gems will become elite players, given how bad the club is doing now.

I believe we will get European football, but I also believe we would still buy him in 8th position even if we didn’t see his Real Betis level of football this season. Only condition is Mourinho doesn’t hate him. I predict we would still sign him even if Mourinho doesn’t rate him as a starter already.

Again not saying this is the right thing to do, just seems really really likely to happen, that’s all

That's what I'm contesting tho'... The likelyhood.

What you're presenting as a given is in fact some seriously leftfield thinking... Especially as you needed to have it pointed out how the purchase clause works to begin with.

How likely do you think it is that we find (like I fear with Ndombele) he hasn't got the engine for the EPL....

You think he's a sure thing in terms of the physical end of things (Also see Ndombele)?

(Given Ndombele was pitched as a game-changer; I've reverted to doubting Ligue Un being a transferable level.)

As far as Ligue 1 goes, do not give it a second thought, it's the best producer of "transferable" footballers there is, and for all European leagues. The list of quality that has come out of that league is unrivalled.

As far as Ndombele goes, this is an Ndombele thing, not a "French" or "Ligue1" thing. I actually flagged this up as my one concern about the fella on here in May:

"I’ve seen a shitload of NDombele too over the last 2/3 season, got a good skill set, strong, reasonably tenacious, can dribble and great eye for an incisive pass. Still young enough to develop on too. The only slight issue might be his energy/dynamism, the PL is ferocious. Bit like Dembele sometimes looked a bit one paced. But I’d still take him all day long. Like him a lot."

As far as Soumare goes, no such issues, he's a good athlete with a decent engine.

I had other players in mind too re: Ligue 1 but fair enough... I can't profess to watch it. Just that energy/dynamism factor you mention concerns me on a broader level.

Soumare happy to rough it up too, yeh?

Edit: didn’t mean to quote Airfixx in this one my bad
I disagree it forces them to take responsibility and show leadership.

Time will tell. ;)
I don’t really disagree with you I think. As you say, the REAL gems (group A) that tick all boxes will shine no matter what (they’ll show leadership in hard times). I just feel there are a lot of young players (group B) that can become elite players, ONLY it they have a couple of development years in ‘easy’ conditions. For me this requirement doesn’t mean that in their ‘ultimate form’ at the age of let’s say 28, group A type of players will be better at football than group B (however more likely ofc)

Anyway this was my TEDtalk thanks for listening :mourthumb:

Not sure what you mean at this point and perhaps my words are ill formulated.

I just think it’s very likely he’ll stay. You have every right to say my reasons are a bit of a stretch (because they kind of are).

Energy/Dynamism in Ligue 1 is rarely an issue, certainly no more than any other league.

He's not a Kante level busy cunt, but he's happy to get a foot in, and he can play a bit of football too, at Lille this season they are playing him in a double pivot next to Andre who's much more experienced (29yo) and is probably a bit better where his positional discipline is concerned - it's a good idea because Soumare is 20 and having his first full season as a regular starter and still has learning to do.

Is Andre the 6 in the pivot? Does soumare have that knack for braking up play and finding a simple pass so that Lille can counter?

it’s the comment on Andre having the position awareness of the two that made me question this.

I find that there are a lot of highly rated midfielders Out there almost posing as 6’s when they are really hybrids.

Yeah, know what you mean. Lille are a young team who generally play a 4231 with a kind of double 6 pivot, but both Soumare and Andre can play a bit of football too. Maybe not quite fair to say Andre is the more positionally disciplined always, because I have seen odd games where Soumare was the more disciplined of the two, and there isn't much in it between the two in terms of workload.

But yeah he can get a foot in, win the ball and either dribble a bit or play a quick pass.

He’s (Soumare) definitely a 6.

All gone a bit quiet regarding Luis Campos? If he came in I think it would be time to really get excited. Anyone seen or heard anything else since the week Jose joined? Would also almost guarantee the Soumare signing.

Spot on Dennis Zakaria is another I rate him highly but I'm not sure what he is.
