It's odd... This is distinctly what I was taught at school......

Watching this video tho'..... Even though LL being taught as a Y sound, in context of words they're still pronounce it LY.

Can you make out the words they’re pronouncing like that?

What you were taught is correct. Sometimes people are lazy in pronouncing things.

For example, I recorded the UCL Quarter and Semi Finals on Spanish (Mexican) language TV in the US. One of the announcers kept pronouncing Llorente Jorente with a very strong J sound (J English sound). I totally understood what he was saying, but the pronunciation struck me as odd.

By the way, I am a native Spanish speaker, and my last name has ll in it.
