Realistically, how much of a "baller" does this fantasy DM truly need to be? ...As long as his defensive and positional game is on point and can calmly feed the CMs either side of him that'd suffice surely?

If it's the piece of the puzzle holding us back, can we really afford to wait until the perfect player (and perfect purchase circumstances) reveal themselves.

Seen Gueye & Barrios mentioned a lot in terms of 'should have bought'... Neither of these guys are what I'd describe as "ballers".... By the same token, and contrary to many on here, an in form Dier to me would be just the ticket (a heavy dose of his prior grit would go a long way too).

Ziyech still looks the dogs bollocks also a front 3 of Ziyech Son and Kane with Ndombele GLC and a true DM behind the would be sexy.
Not to rain down on your parade but Ziyech is an up and down kind of player. One week he could play world class, but 3 days later he isn't up to League One level.

I remember when Ajax were playing horribly (a stint before last season), the supporters blamed Ziyech first. He also has a bit too much clumsy mistakes in his game.

I'm still very impressed at how good Gueye looks in that PSG XI, never thought he would bring so much to such a star studded squad. Following that same pattern, perhaps even a physical player like Doucoure could turn out better than expected in a good squad.

All teams like that need a couple of grifters to make it click. PSG have Guye, City have Fernandinho, Liverpool have Fabinho, Real have Casemiro etc.

Re:
Let’s look at their signings from the the summer of 2018 then shall we:
Kieta
Shaqiri
Fabinho
Aliison

Ours in the same period:
Ndombele
Lo Celso
Sessengon

The above is rubbish. Liverpool signed those 4 players in 2018 while Spurs spent £0 on players, if anything Dembele was sold for £10m or so at that period.

We signed the 3 players in summer 2019.

2018/19 Liverpool strengthened and nearly won the PL, won the CL. They finished 4th the previous season. While Spurs signed no one went from 3rd to 4th in the table.

It was not same period. End of.
Their net spend end of summer 2018(from Klopps entire time there) was 700k. Their net spend since Klopp went there is lower than ours over the same period. And they sold their star player to fund some of it.
The comparison is hilarious because they are run the same way we are. They just have higher revenue so pay higher wages etc.
