25million is fuck all in todays market..
If you think he's not worth 25million then you clearly don't rate him. In which case why are you happy to bring him in on loan?

Not sure I'd agree about £25m being fuck all in today's market. Berge for £22m, Bergwijn for £25m the market is showing evidence of simmering down again. It might be a fad, it might spike up again and probably will when the TV deal expires and a new one is struck but I think £25m is slowly becoming a decent price for a player of a certain level again.

According to TransferMkt, a £25m signing right now would make it into our top 10 transfer fees ever paid, it's still a lot of dough:

On some level it's almost like the winter window hasn't experienced the same skyrocketing prices as the summer window?

That there are just as many sellers but not as many buyers?

I also get the sense that clubs that regularly produce talent are starting to realize what a renewable resource they have on their hands. Sell your latest crop for a nice price to make room for the next. PSV is always going to have players putting up nice looking stats, and above a certain level they're never going to be able to keep them, so keep the conveyor belt moving.

Kane always comes back from injury quickly. I’d not be surprised to see him back end of feb, beginning of March. If that’s possible, it seems lavish to spend £25m - £40m on a guy who’ll play for a month.
We don't need a guy who'll just play for a month.
We need a guy who can offer genuine competition for Kanes place.
Or should we rush him back as usual, play him in every game, and wait for the next inevitable injury so we can all have the same arguments again in 7 or 8 months time.

On the bright side, I think maybe having Bergwijn in the squad now could boost Son's ability as a striker, because now we would have a real winger on the left to fill his gap if we shift Son up front in the middle.

Wouldn’t them coming in from our academy and succeeding give you greater pleasure than buying expensive flops, or should we just burn money because we can?
Im pleased with our transfer window. And I wouldn’t want us to blow money on some Carlos kickaball who won’t improve us.

It really isn’t that easy. We seem to be busy in the market but I won’t be too upset if we don’t plug round holes with square plugs tomorrow.
At the start of the window, especially in the light of Kane's latest injury, almost everyone to a man on here was saying that not bringing a recognised striker in would be unforgivable.

Now it's dawning on people that it might actually happen, its like, ok, maybe we can do without.....its not like going to the corner shop for a loaf of bread......we can always promote the youth or play Moura up top........Levys doing his best you know.......Best to wait til Summer and see who's available...... We've spent 6 billion already on the rebuild.....

First time I’ve agreed with you in about a year. We need a long term rotation option that can also play with Kane in certain matches. Buy one now and we have a poor choice at top money. Spend time, scouting a quality player that the manager wants and buy and investing in the proper summer window should be the strategy. If Levy could do one thing to piss me off this window it’ll be spunking £25m on a no mark that’ll be loaned to Betis in two years, having cost us about £12.5m per goal.

If he could get Mertens or Cavani now, great, but I’m not sure that kind of deal is possible in this window.
