I’m a little surprised people are more upset about the lack of a striker than a DCM to be honest.

Our first XI is crying out for a protective shield in front of our back 4 and both our team and our defensive performances have decreased significantly since we lost our settled MF axis last Jan.

Conversely we need a forward for squad depth only, yet that seems to be the priority for most.

Okay, but why expect different? It just sets people up for disappointment. It's like marrying someone and then being disappointed when they aren't someone else.

Some people might imply that this means that I don't care as much, I don't have as much passion or whatever nonsense. I didn't start supporting Spurs because they were the biggest team in the world, spent tons of money on marquee signings or won dozens of trophies. I fell in love with Spurs, warts and all and always cheer for them despite them always making it easy to do so.

Is this defeatist? I don't think so, rather just having realistic expectations.
The reason I have different expectations is probably naive. We have had nearly 20 years of the “hinted” better tomorrow. And along the way been humiliated time and again, each time covered up by that better tomorrow mantra. And now everything is in place, what’s exposed is the lie of utopia to follow. There is nothing coming up the tracks to change us from that plucky also ran into an elite club. Under ENIC we were the club that was bang lucky to get to the Champions league final, not the club who narrowly missed out and regrouped and went again. It’s been like a collective shrug of acceptance of being what we were every time we came up short.

think of it this way - once that Stadium is built we won’t have to scrub about for players.

stadiums built. Still scrubbing about for players. Being flat footed and inept.

don’t fret, wait till the food sales and gate receipts filter through.......

of course that will be bollocks too as that money is going to go towards a hotel or a sky walk or some other rubbish that none of us care about.

18 months with no players coming in did so much damage.

And a squad so poor it’s lost 7-2 @ home and lost 3-0 to Brighton, in desperate need for a DM before the only striker gets injured is enforced how ???

wankers, we are not just bad this year, we are genuinely generational bad, losing 7-2 at home for fuck sake. It should not be happening. No DM ? Absolutely nonsensical. pleading to play a 17 year old up front 6 months after a Champions League final. Ridiculous.

And if Deadly Dan is such a master negotiator he’s done fucking awful with player recruitment. Especially recently, he’s failed to negotiate a loan deal for a Real Sociedad striker. Let that sink in. A virtually unknown player from a bang average Spanish team....Jesus Christ.

and that’s without considering how many millions and millions in over running costs on the build project Dan’s responsible for! Just time to change the record, it’s broken and he’s done. Thanks, so long and goodbye.

I honestly don’t know for sure why I care so much. I wish I could say fuck it and shrug too. Ridiculous really to give a monkeys.

Sure the stadium is built - but we have a £600m+ debt on it.

FYI when I bought my flat, I had a mortgage and couldn't spend as much as I'd like as I had to pay off the mortgage - no difference. After a few years, finances were a lot easier but first year or two wre tough.

Spurs make more money today than before because of the stadium - but we need to set aside say £40m a year to repay the debt.

Still means that net Spurs have MORE money to spend - that's why we spent £100m+ (net) on players in the summer - and more this January. We could have spent more but there wasn't the quality of players we want, - so guess what we don't spend money but spend it in the summer when better quality available,
