Agree that it’s not good to see fans go after our players, and I certainly never slag them off, but what exactly is Winks? He’s not a six as he can’t defend. He’s not an attacking CM as he doesn’t link with our front three.

He is incredibly niche. If we had a great 6 and and 8 (which we may well have with Ndombele) then fair enough, he can link the two. But there’s a lot of players out there that can do that.

I personally think that for a player to be considered any more than good, he needs to be able to demonstrate a wider skill set. He flounders under pressure.

When he first came into the team he wasn’t sitting deep and found himself up in that AM area. I don’t think he has the skills to be a AM, but he wasn’t shit.

If we want to challenge, he is a squad player for sure. He shouldn’t be our 6.

According to some guy on some podcast today, Barcelona have to shift £125m of talent before summer. Arturo Vidal anyone?

Absofuckinglutely.

Never will happen though, would be top earner at 33 and none-homegrown.

He is a good example of how our policy is harming us (but somehow we find it perfectly apt to clog up the squad with Vorms and Nwhoevers)

How is Vorm a squad clogger?

...If Lloris hadn't got injured, MV wouldn't even be here.

Not sure what GKN has to do with us paying top whack wages on a fast ageing Vidal either.

I'm not sure Poch would be able to handle Vidal either.

Vidal is a serial winner. In fact, he has the longest active streak of consecutive titles won by any active player. He would understandably want to voice his opinion on training and strategies. Something that by most recent accounts, Poch does not like. He expects players to not question him which seems to be why he prefers working with youngsters over established stars.

I wouldnt call releasing Vorm, only to get him back in once it became clear that Lloris wouldn't miss a few months clogging up the squad. I actually think it's a really smart deal getting Mich back in but I don't fancy Vidal at 33 years of age, it's not in line with club policy and he's only going to decline month on month if he were to come to us.

If Barcelona need to shift £125m worth of players, I say we go for Alena or Riqui Puig and perhaps one of their CBs who ain't getting the TLC required. Umtiti perhaps?

Or the RB lad we were linked with in the summer....?

Because Barcelona doesn't want to sell them anymore than they want to sell other players with development potential?

Nelson Semedo? I think he's been playing a fair old bit for the, but I'm sure one of their backup RBs could do a job for us whilst we try and dig ourselves out of a hole.

I still don't really get why we don't try and pinch a player or two off of this lot or Real Madrid. I always thought we missed a huge trick when selling a player to a bigger club in the past by not insisting on a player swap. We could easily have ended up with someone like Zinchenko when we shipped Walker off to them but we love a bit of cash on the hip. I'm pretty sure Man City accepted a bid from Wolves for Zinchenko either that summer or the summer afterwards so he was definitely available if we had dig our heels in, instead all we have done with deals for Sheringham, Carrick, Berbatov, Bale, Madric etc is walked away with Frazier Campbell :avbshock:

But if they NEED £125m then surely they will be in a position where they can't dictate the market. It all depends on how urgently they require that money if they do and the reasons behind it.

If they simply need to generate those London of funds then they won't be doing so shipping 33 year olds off of their books mate.

Umtiti has played a couple of times this season according to the Barcelona website. I know a certain club who could donwithna cheeky CB on their books :gallashmm:

In the case of Barca or RM; who do you see us selling? Eriksen I guess is the obv, but I'm increasingly at a loss why either would want him.

As for the Walker deal; if it was a goer Sancho would be Spurs right now. Sickeningly, these rich cunts play off of turning players heads knowing that an unsettled player is no good to us. The fact is it suits them to just pay a premium fee rather than risk strengthening a potential rival.

I suspect their intention is that Dembele or Coutinho will conjure up the bulk of that 125m.

Sorry but that is pure pipe-dreaming, just as the people who want to sign Fabian Ruiz, Thiago, Ndidi, Zainola and players in that bracket.

Will never happen, not because of policy but because we cannot shop in that price bracket. Those players are beyond us for their next step.

Dunno. Coutinho not pulling up trees at Bayern, according to Didi Hamann, who rates him as "half a player."
Being involved in 6 goals in 11 games (all comps) seems pretty decent to me.

Hamann is most likely just another in the Bayern old guard going to bat for Müller, who Coutinho has forced out of the 11. As per usual when a new face forces one of the established guard out unless said youngster somehow comes in with the "blessing" of the elders.
