Sell

Eriksen
Alderweireld
Aurier
Wanyama
Lucas*

Sign

Ziyech
Van de Beek
Berge
Atal

Gazzaniga
Atal - Sanchez - Vertonghen- Davies
Berge
Ndombele - Lo Celso
Ziyech - Kane - Son

Lloris - Foyth - Dier - Sissoko - Van de Beek - Dele - Winks

Only sell Lucas if the right offer comes in. He's a great squad player, but I think we can do better than him.

I know this wouldn't all be done in one window, but over a few windows we'd create the strongest squad we've ever had.

It's a pipe dream to think we can sell Eriksen and Toby in January when they can leave for nothing in the summer and considering their current form.

I don't think we will do much business in January anyway, perhaps only if our form in the league doesn't improve.

Oh I totally agree. Eriksen we could maybe sell as teams might be willing to pay to guarantee they sign him, but Alderweireld won't go in January.

I think there maybe 1 or 2 additions in January, especially if we are still 5 or more points short of top 4 and we've qualified for the knockout stages of the UCL. Wouldn't at all be surprised if we went back in for Fernandes, and maybe either Atal or Max Aarons.

There will be more outgoings than incomings though.

Not quite as clear cut as that.

If Eriksen and/or Alderweireld sign pre-contracts in January for overseas clubs, its not unheard of for the new club to approach the 'selling club' (Spurs) to ask if they can receive the player 6 months early, paying a compensation fee (not huge but lets say £10m).

Might make sense for us to accept as we have our quota of 17 overseas player slots full atm, so freeing up a slot allows us to sign an overseas trained player in January rather than waiting for the summer..

Spurs did the same thing when we signed Lewis Holtby.

That is a possibility and it would facilitate our signing of players in January. I hope it happens, but it's not a given. The fact that we didn't offload them in the summer is a bad sign.

I still see us offloading a few players without necessarily signing a replacement. Wanyama is the one I see we could get rid of then and to a lesser extent Danny Rose.

What’s the craic with Diawara these days? Or on that note and the mini crisis at Napoli I know he’s injured at the moment but we could grab Allan? He’s the Kante of Serie A apparently.

I don't think we need Fernandes tbph, a proper dedicated fit DM and a RB would be absolute necessities for now.

Maybe Poch feel Eriksen needs to be replaced and Lo Celso is going to play slightly deeper than Eriksen would be my thinking hence Fernandes to come in as a direct replacement.

But yeh DM for me is the out and out priority.

yeah had thought that myself but I honestly think Lo Celso looks like a proper forward player-would however be just like Poch to play him out of position lol

From my understanding Lo Celso is a multi role player, has played CM and AM so I am not even sure how he will fit in. Does look good though, in his cameo was like the old Eriksen but with the balls to tackle and press.

Lo Celso can play both out wide and centrally. So he can compete with both Eriksen and with Dele. Bruno I think would be signed as more of a out and out number 10 if he were to come in.

Wanyama is one that I suspect Spurs have tried to sell for at least 2 years now - seemed odds on to go to Bruges in the summer with a £13m fee agreed between the clubs and a £65k pw wage almost agreed bur apparently Wanyama decided against it at the last minute. Problem is he has 2 years left on his contract.

And if he refuses to be sold he may well also refuse to be loaned. And if we simply do not register him in our squad (and I am not a legal expert) I do wonder if that might trigger a 'constructive dismissal' event ie we are depriving him of the opportunity to work. And that might cost us not only the 2 years wages left on his contract but damages as well - so might be £5m - £10m cost versus getting a fee in. If that's not the case I suspect a few other clubs would have also dealt with a few players that way.

The other overseas trained player I could see going is Aurier, who can be replaced (at least for this season ) by Foyth with Walker-Peters also there (albeit Poch clearly isn't a big fan atm). After those 2, the other overseas trained players who imo are the most likely to be candidates to be moved on are Dier, Sissoko and Lamela, but all three have their uses and I suspect the club would like to retain all 3 until the summer.

Spurs announced in preseason that Rose was given the opportunity to talk to other club(s) but nothing came of it. Biggest problem I suspect is to find another LB - unless that will be Sessegnon by summer.

So looking at the squad overall Management - Our Squad 2019/20 - and the Rebuild ! there are 2 'HG' player spots available which could be filled in January. Problem is that there are not too many good candidates available.

To me the candidates might be :

Lewis Cook (DM) age 22 from Bournemouth - But he's just coming back from a year out with injury. Poch would also need to agree not to kill him in training until summer. But he's quality

Joe Gomez (RB/CB) aged 22 from Liverpool - He's unhappy as he has lost his place through injury last season and isn't being played. But would Liverpool sell to us ?

Aarons (RB) aged 19/20 from Norwich - Inexperienced. Not sure he's that much better than KWP. Would Poch play him

A few other options but probably less than 6 to 10 good enough for us. But these might not all be available !

Certainly capable of playing multiple positions I just don't wanna see him played deep as the likes of Dele and Winks have been when they clearly have the required ability to affect the game further forward-he looks like a proper hole player to me from the small amount I've seen him play and he likes arriving late in the box with an eye for a goal-I just wouldn't want him to lose that for the sake of spending another 50 million plus on another attacking mid when we have far bigger problems elsewhere.
