Think they were desperate to sign players for almost all positions in the squad. Wan Bissaka was available, albeit paying more than his real worth, so they bought to improve their squad. Previously the aging Ashley Young was RB and they didn't fancy other alternatives in their squad.
Think they still need to improve their squad in many positions - and although not a priority to upgrade at RB, Pereira would certainly do that. Might be better to coach Wan Bissaka in his attacking play ( he was a winger at Palace before becoming RB) but think they prefer to spend

Was on a trial with Spurs about 6 or 7 years ago so he could have been ours for pennies, we possibly rejected him as he is relatively short (don't think he had grown much since) for a PL goalkeeper.
