Assuming we play 4-3-3:

RB
LB
CB
CB (possibly)

DM/#6
CM play controlling /#8

AMC and/or false #9

CF/#9
RF with pace and a direct playing style

Assuming you still have faith in either Gazza or Hugo ... and that we buy GLC and keep Lamela

Whichever way you look at it, it's going to take a couple of years to get all those players in.

Imo we will hope to bring in say 3 or 4 players in January, but included in there will be say two of Eze, Ferguson and Bowen ( partly because we have free HG spaces and partly because we avoid some of the cultural acclimatisation/integratio. Issues we may be seeing with Ndombele and Lo Celso). Recognising that it might be another 12 months or so for some of the players to develop from a great prospect to being an established PL player.

And a couple of more established players to come in too. But the question is going to be which players leave - as it's clear that Wanyama had a decent offer from Bruges last summer but declined to accept it at the last minute, which illustrates nicely that if splayed doesn't want to go it's difficult to force the issue. I'd like to get rid of say Wanyama, Aurier and Eriksen ( to get a fee rather than nothing in the Summer) and maybe Moura ( who doesn't offer s lot if we got Bowen and Eze in) but that's a pretty optimistic list of sales.....and the number of sales of overseas trained players will determine how quickly we can bring in players in January and the summer.

Yeah, at this point, I'd have to say we need to sell: Eriksen, Moura, Aurier. They aren't good enough at the moment and I can't see how they improve. I love Moura's energy, but he's wasted sooo many great moves with poor touches and bad vision.

Dele is mercurial as fuck. It's so frustrating, I regularly scream at the TV. Between the 4 of them, it was just a facepalm for 95 minutes today. No one was outstanding (TN and MS were both good).

Not sure about Sess, seemed OK, but hard to tell with the general shabbiness.

RB and CDM requirements are nailed on. If we don't get at least one of them before end of Jan then I have very little hope of top 4. I do look forward to next season, though, even if we don't get CL, since I fully expect to be winning more games after a JM pre-season and some new blood.

Levy is paying Mourinho £15M/year, nearly double Pochettino's wages. It's obvious to anyone that we need an overhaul of a few players. One would think that Levy isn't going to make a shocking move like this and then sit on his hands again in the transfer windows, but, it is Levy, and January windows are typically slower than the summer.

I'd keep Moura, as a squad player he's good enough, Aurier we should have never bought in the first place.

"We see the bad result today which is the continuity of the last year. For 12 months, it has been very difficult to get results away from home.

"The work is not about buying, it is about working with the players on the pitch."

Lucas Moura - take away the Ajax goals and he’s Clinton N’Jie. He’s been terrible. I’d cash in on him, seriously. Doesn’t offer enough.
Don’t forget united away as well, son was equally frustrating in his first few seasons for us as well, any how the problem at the moment is our strikers are feeding of scraps , all we seem to have is a long ball over the top, until we sort that out it doesn’t matter who we play, look at Kane for England and then Kane for spurs , it’s like your looking at different players and it all comes down to the service they are getting which at the minute is non existent

Buy British/British experienced players.
Don't buy players who have never played in Britain.

Certainly helps if a big proportion of the players have played in Britain before - Liverpool' transfer success in the last few years built on it with Robertson (Hull), Gomez (Charlton), Alexander-Arnold (Academy), Van Dyjk (Southampton), Oxlade- Chamberlain (Woolwich), Mane (Southampton), Milner (Sunderland), Salah (Chelsea). That's 8 of their squad, most of whom are first teamers

Probably missed out a couple - but the other pertinent fact is that most of these were bought in the last few years but we didn't get any - even Gomez £4m, or Robertson £8m so it's not just about money. That just reinforces how poor we bought over the last 5 years with Poch in charge of transfers - full list towards the bottom of this link Tottenham Hotspur All-Time Player Transfer History | My Football Facts

I think the issue is not having a proper midfield pairing. We are playing Sissoko, who isn’t a DM, and Eriksen, Lo Celso or Ndombele who need a proper centre mid with then, otherwise they are dropping too deep and not making an impact.

I think our best way forward is to get a new CDM in and go 4-3-3. New CDM, Winks and Ndombele in centre mid then Son, Kane and one of Lucas, Dele and Sessengon up front.

One of the reasons we were so hard to beat was we would win the midfield battle, whether it was Dembele/Wanyama or Dembele/Dier. We have lost that and need to find it again.

Say the reports are true, and Mourinho has significant funds in January, we should be looking at Soumare and Atal/Pereira.

Lloris
Atal/Pereira - Sanchez - Alderweireld - Davies
Soumare
Winks - Ndombele
Son - Kane - Sessengon

Gazzaniga, Foyth, Vertonghen, Dier, Lo Celso, Lucas, Dele
