I didn’t want him at spurs either, but it’s the fact we thought we were to good for him, yet after performances like today he would walk into our starting 11, and that’s the worrying thing as he probably wouldn’t even make Liverpool’s bench
Grealish walks into our 11 easily. The lad is the most creative English player in the league on stats. He’d improve us, instantly.

Whichever way you look at it, it's going to take a couple of years to get all those players in.

Imo we will hope to bring in say 3 or 4 players in January, but included in there will be say two of Eze, Ferguson and Bowen ( partly because we have free HG spaces and partly because we avoid some of the cultural acclimatisation/integratio. Issues we may be seeing with Ndombele and Lo Celso). Recognising that it might be another 12 months or so for some of the players to develop from a great prospect to being an established PL player.

And a couple of more established players to come in too. But the question is going to be which players leave - as it's clear that Wanyama had a decent offer from Bruges last summer but declined to accept it at the last minute, which illustrates nicely that if splayed doesn't want to go it's difficult to force the issue. I'd like to get rid of say Wanyama, Aurier and Eriksen ( to get a fee rather than nothing in the Summer) and maybe Moura ( who doesn't offer s lot if we got Bowen and Eze in) but that's a pretty optimistic list of sales.....and the number of sales of overseas trained players will determine how quickly we can bring in players in January and the summer.

Not disagreeing - I am merely canvassing how far out we are, due to the staggering negligence on Levys behalf

He won't press Son out of the team, that's for sure.

But fortunately he only plays LW right now and he can play a string of other position.
If we get a proper DM to play alongside Sissoko then in front of them we could have Ndombele, Son and Lo Celso with Alli and Lucas in reserve. Do we need a £60million + signing who in 50 odd appearances has been in the winning team 5 times?

The way our performances has been going, we need short stop, a quick solution. Meaning if we cant get anybody we wanted for long term projects, get in someone who would be squad players in a season or two.
For example, Bertrand or vanAanholt in LB. There are a lot of solution we can get for our FB problems.
A fresher legs with league experience would have boost our performance.

The problem we have is that too many of the players Poch bought proved to be poor.

Should Levy have given him more money is another question - but given Poch ability to assess players, imo Levy needed to appoint a Sporting Director to head up scouting and buying as Poch would not buy better with more money.

Think I’d rather sign players who are Premier League experienced already. Doucoure would be a great CDM option, Ndidi would be the dream but I think he’ll be too much.

Right back, Pereira is number 1, but again I think he’d be too much. Aarons or Matt Doherty would be good additions.

Is Atal a possibility now in Jan with the intent that he joins in the summer after he recovers from injury or is that too big of a gamble. Same maybe for the likes of Berge at Genk, almost like a loan back agreement.
I take the point that we need to be mindful of the HG rule, so I think that English signings in January are more likely. Eze and Bowen have bags of potential and should be picked up, maybe even bring Clarke in to see what he’s about.

This is all well and good, but:

We need a DM NOW.... Meanwhile, not convinced resigning ourselves to this lop-sided back 4 set-up for the rest of the season is wise either.

Personally, re Atal... Given the clusterfuck and total lack of integration of ALL our summer signings, I have no desire to see us roll the dice on an another injured player....

Jose loves a solid DM, always has, his prior teams have been built around good ones, so that is a priority to get a genuine specialist DM, but we also need a good RB because that cock Aurier is beyond fucking useless. I’d love to see us make a couple of statement signings in those positions, but unlikely in January. Agree on last summers signings, known talent is maybe required in those key positions, would love Pereira , but unlikely unless we bust the bank.
