No, I've seen very little of Fernandes or Portuguese football this year, the player I'd go absolutely all in on would be Camavinga (watched him again tonight) 17yo, plays CM/6 for Rennes. Absolutely outstanding talent. Most impressive player of his ilk, of his age, I've seen for a long long time. This kid, as a CM/6 has everything, tall, strong, lithe, tenacious as fuck (has one of the highest tackle averages in Europe already), technically excellent, can move with the ball and pass it pretty well. His temperament and reading of the game for a 17yo are exceptional.
I hope he doesn’t rush his career (for his own sake)

To crowd shooting down every CM that isn’t solely a defensive midfielder....tell me some DMs available? I don’t see any teams buying or selling those players. Berge is the only name and he’s rated higher by fans than all the clubs. Gedson would be a fine signing. Yes, he’s more of an 8 but he is better defensively than Ndombele and Winks. He’d be a good signing at a great price. We honestly just straight up need better players. Regardless of the position.

Piatek seems done deal.

You guys really think that if we sign Gedson Fernandes the 18-year old, he would help a lot already this season? I would say no and no. He's just a kid and needs time to adapt. Get the other Fernandes instead and then we will have a chance to finish in TOP4.

Another name mentioned by the Standard is Boro right back Djed Spence.

The 19-year-old recently broke into the first team at Riverside Stadium and was part of the Boro side that drew 1-1 with Spurs in last weekend’s FA Cup third round.

Standard Sport understands Jose Mourinho made a point of congratulating Spence on his performance once the players left the field, having been impressed by the youngster’s display.

Spence has 18 months left on a youth-team contract but Middlesbrough are desperate to tie him to a new and improved deal. It is believed they are willing to offer him a five-year contract but no agreement has yet been reached, although talks are ongoing.

Spurs are tracking Spence with Mourinho a long-term admirer having kept tabs on the defender since his release from Fulham, where the youngster was part of an academy set-up also containing the Tottenham boss’ son, Jose Mourinho Jr.

Mourinho Jr was a goalkeeper at Fulham until his contract was terminated by mutual consent in 2017 and is believed to have spoken highly of Spence.

Mourinho also used Fulham’s training base to prepare for Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final win over Spurs in April 2018, two months before Spence joined Boro.

A right-back with an abundance of pace, Spence has made just nine senior appearances for Middlesbrough, but seven of those have come since December 7.

He also scored his first senior goal in a 1-0 Championship win over Huddersfield on Boxing Day.
