My point is you have to compromise somewhere. You never get everything you want. Unless you have a couple hundred million. Which we dont. Thats life.

The point I've made is don't buy sub standard overseas trained players - they clog things up.

If you want to compromise on cost buy an HG player, they don't clog up the squad places so your only loss is wages and transfer fee. My personal favourite (but may not be everyone's cup of tea) would be Nabil Bentaleb, or real cheap idea was to recall Luke Amos from QPR where he's almost idolised - not top class but think he's certainly lower/mid PL club class.

Mourinho on signing a desperately needed striker.

"Its not easy, but we are trying to add that type of player to the squad"

When you buy a house. Do you buy an expensive bed and eat on the floor? Or do u fill it with cheap stuff and gradually buy better?

Good question. A dilemma I found myself in recently. But decided to go for a mix. Things which were vital, such as a decent bed, I went for the expensive option. Shelving in the storage room, cheap and cheerful to get started.

If you end up filling it with cheap stuff, then you keep thinking, this will do until you find the perfect item, which doesn't neccessarily exist and then 20 years down the road, you still have the dining room table, which was supposed to be a short term solution.

Just because he's our manager he has somehow managed to change his entire demeanor? What a load of bollocks! Disagree my arsen@l! He's a cunt! He's always been a cunt and always will be but now he's our cunt.

The point is why sign players if they are not of sufficient standard.

The idea of signing a player who is not up to it on a 5 year contract at say £60k pw (£3m pa) and then deciding he's not good enough to play so we pay off his remaining contract - lets say 4 years @ £3m pa or £12m is just laughable, plus don't recover the initial transfer fee of say £30m. So total loss on one poor standard player is £42m.

How many of those can any club afford ?

That's why its apparent that you posted without engaging brain.

The motto is only buy if the player is of sufficient quality - otherwise it bites you in the arse later. How difficult is that for people to understand ?

What is sufficient standard?!?
Wanyama who has played 122 minutes for us? Because that is what you have to compare him to right now. We need some DM in the squad. I don't care if he will not be good enough for winning EPL/CL title.
Yea, sure, I would also prefer that we'd sign players that would suit us perfectly and who actually would be good enough. That would be perfect. But if alternatives are either to continue with Wanyama in squad or take a shot at someone who can be riskier, I will vote for option 2.

We have shown in the past that you can buy a foreign player and move him on with profit or close to 0 even if he will not become undisputed starter - Stambouli, Capoue, Yedlin, Wimmer, Chiriches, Paulinho, Holtby.

Don't come around to say that you just have to make 5 y contract NOR pay it off full. It is laughable strawman which has nothing to do with real life. Wanyama has been exceptional in the sense that his medical condition is ... well pushing suitors away. I can claim that never have we lost such kind of money for one player. We took losses of ~7 mil for both N'ije and N'koudou + payed them maybe 6 mil of wages. So COMBINED loss of 2 of biggest flops from recent years have been ~26 mil. Which is in fact in similar region what we EARNED as transfer profit from Wimmer, Yedlin, Stambouli, Holtby deals (once more - we did not have to pay off any of their contracts and release them for free!!)

So don't come out raging like a madman with phrases like "posted without engaging brain" and "how difficult it is to understand this or that". Maybe take it down a notch and talk about realistic things and numbers?
