Funny, but as an aside...is Harry on his back or has he installed his laminate flooring wrong?

I think a loan is the best we are going to do for a back up striker.

Id LOVE for us to loan out Parrott and get an experienced player in on loan. Then we can reassess the situation in the summer.

Willian Jose, Solomon Rondon, whoever.. Just get someone in who is going to suit what Mourinho needs.

Unless of course the aim is to knock it long to the channels for Lucas and Bergwijn to chase whilst playing Son up top.
I not only agree with this I think it’s our best option.

People need to remember Son in an effective striker (albeit not stylistically to Jose’s taste). Cannot understand people thinking Giroud will be better - on what evidence? Son is a better player than Giroud in every position (even LWB😉). My concern over this last month has been having either him or Moura playing centrally leaves limited pace and width in the team. Bergwijn addresses that.

I genuinely fear that we’re going to sign someone like Jose and end up loaning them out in 12 months a la Janssen because we rushed to secure a body up top.

Loaning someone in like Rondon provides a guarantee about the player we’re getting (ok but not great and PL ready) as well as long term financial protection. It also gives this new administration a chance to identify a young, talented striker who can not only provide reliable backup for Kane, but also eventually compete with him.

Everyone needs to separate their disdain or otherwise of Levy from the task at hand. We want top 4 of course, but we don’t need to gamble our long term prospects to do so. Even if you think we’ve made mistakes over the past years relating to transfers, you can’t paper over those in one window. Think long term.

I think there are a few very realistic and obtainable players that could improve us right now that we could be buying and for some reason we are not doing so.

That's where the frustration is coming from, why wait until the summer when we can improve the squad now and integrate these players now?

What's going to change in the summer? We might save some money?

When Rondon was at Newcastle I thought he always looked more than capable of playing in a much better team.
Not prolific but he will get a few goals and also a very decent target man.

I'm fine with Jose on loan but fuck off paying 25m for him. He's never been worth that much and he hasn't done anything this season to make his price sky rocket. That price is there because his club knows we are in need.

Been doing the rounds of various media and other sites.

Looks like Barcelona (Suarez injury), Man United (Rashford injury) Chelsea (Abraham injury) plus other clubs with injured strikers or just trying to get one including Napoli, Inter, Newcastle, West Ham are all trying to get strikers.

'Top' strikers (and I use that word with a question mark) available include :

Jose
Slimani,
Balotelli
Giroud
Llorente
Rondon

So slim pickings - and lots of possible takers.

Not sure ho looks good out of that lot - no doubt a few others possible, but.....

Really not sure how this ends.

The fact that all these teams haven't brought in a striker yet shows it's really not that easy. Even so, I still fancy our chances of landing someone before the window closes.
