Transfers January 2023 Transfer Thread. The Big One

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He had more than one good performance in the Champions League. More notably against Barcelona too.

I had only seen glimpses from his Lyon days domestically and he looked fine. I was happy with the signing. Then again, I also liked Seri when he was at Nice.

I just think you can’t compare playing in the French league to the PL. It’s the same with Holland and the same with Portugal. At least Porro has had some football in Spain but I’m not going to start pinning my hope on him revolutionising our team as much as some. A new keeper and couple of centre backs would do that.

Has Conte been backed? Well, partially.

For sure Kulu, Bentancur, Perisic, Biss and Rich were good signings for him.

Where we have fallen massively short is the defence.

Flying wingbacks are crucial to the system and all he's been handed to work with is an aging Perisic and a player he never wanted (Spence)

And then we need at least 3 quality Centre backs to effectively play his system. Instead he has to rely on Davies, Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga and Lenglet.

That is where has not been sufficiently backed.

If he sticks around then the end of the summer window will be the moment to judge one way or the other.

I said it towards the end of last season. It was always going to take two summer windows to sort this team out. But we are behind where I thought we’d be on signings, I must say. Plus I think it is why Conte needs to stay really. He hasn’t been here long enough to have a side to have a good go at it.

I don't think league matters when you sign across the top five. The French League has produced some of the best footballers this league has seen as well as across European football.

Ndombele was just poorly scouted in terms of his overall personality and professionalism. We could have signed Yves Bissouma from Lille instead for over half the price the same summer and we'd have fared alot better for example.

Porro is a step in the right direction. Again, no real worries about the league he's in. He's got the right profile for what we need.

Goalkeeper and Centre backs are important. Sadly, I don't think we'll get the ones we need this window but we will strengthen that in the summer. Hopefully the second half of the season with Danjuma and Porro added to the squad, we can focus on what we know we can do well when we try and that's attack. Score more than you mentality would be nice.

Never is Levy messing round with transfers and moving the goal posts.... always the other team.

It is staggering how long it takes us to complete any transfer compared to pretty much every other club in the prem.

I think we looked at him before then too

Yeah it's the order of priorities that suprises me. A proper CB was required last summer tbh.

Now we will need to buy 2/3 this summer.

Sporting are just dragging it out until the final is played. He wants the move, the money is there and they’re actively looking for replacements.

Probably won’t be announced until deadline day as it then seems like we’ve been busy on the day, a usual Tottenham trick.
