Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We can’t beat Burnley at home without a new signing?
We can, but it's a cup game and the thing is with cup games is that they throw any number of curve balls and screw you over. Port Vale for example.

And that is very much more likely if you have Royal and Davis as CB's.

Of course, VdV might return, but he wont play a full game either as a starter or coming on as sub.

And Radu would have added much need stability at the back, but meh, not gonna happen now, but hopefully he should here for ManU.

How many of those minutes was GLC injured? or available and ready to start?

How many of those minutes were at the start of the season when Ange was attempting to figure out his new team of players and didn't know what he thought of each player?

It's an arbitrary, made-up bollox that intentionally ignores any context at all. (hopefully it was intentionally for your sake because if you really think this is how stats work, you are more hopeless than I fucking thought).

Now piss off with this boring conversation. Please.
Had to put him on ignore

We’ll agree to disageee on LoCelso.

But one thing I will point out is that he’s a squad player - in a fully fit squad. He’s the back up for Madders at the 10 and Sarr at the 8. Actually probably 3rd choice at the 8 behind Sarr and Benta.

Fittingly, he’s also paid like a squad player - 15th highest wage on the team. If he’s willing to extend at the same salary, I’d be all for it. A back-up capable of putting up MoTM performances during the 22.8% of the time he’s on the pitch at reasonable (not bargain) wages works for me.

See below.

On a different note, one thing I hadn’t realized until now is that Tanguy is the highest paid player on our payroll at 200K per week. Higher even than Sonny. Jesus wept.

Sickening what Ndombele has got away with here.

Hitchens should never have work in football again after signing that off.

I love the bi-annual visits from the business gurus breaking down transactions.

Deals can be done extremely quickly if you establish the true selling price and pay it.

This should have been negotiated in Nov/Dec with terms all agreed on player side. Then you pay a slight premium to get him in the door Jan 1st.

Otherwise you continue to play this back and forth and delay the signing. In the process you lose the chance to bed him in vs Burnley and mean you throw him into a debut at Old Trafford.

Fine to record a 3m saving using this approach but what about if that leads to worse outcomes in the next two games - was it worth it?
You didn’t read my post did you. Re-read the final paragraph and respond to what you’ve read instead of making things up.

Doesn't change a thing.

"They want the most they can get for their asset" No shit Sherlock!

That doesn't mean there is not a selling price that you arrive at. Hence "this should have been negotiated in Nov/Dec".

You sir, are the one that needs to learn to read.
So your argument is just that this should have been agreed 4-8 weeks ago?

I can think of one transfer this window in the whole of Europe that was completed before the window opened. One.

What does that matter.

Him being injured is inherent part of him. You are just denying it, but that thing here IS the very context you talk about. You can force your eyes shut as much as you want, it does not change the fact that his whole spell with us has been full of injuries.

Availability is important part of ability.

Who ever said it was easy?

Not me.

You didn't say that but you're certainly implying it.

What you actually said that we should have agreed before the window opened - you're gonna have to remind me of other deals in this window where that's happened?

If you can't think of any or many other deals probably tells you there's a reason why it's not as common, in fact how many deals are actually done early in the window in Jan is another question?
