Maybe but in the cold light of day he also knows that if Romero and Micky V are fit then he's sitting it out here too.

Perhaps he’s ambitious enough and confident enough to think that he can ultimately overtake them to start games for them though, maybe even this season?

Upamecano is exceptionally overrated and De Ligt hasn’t exactly pulled up trees since he’s gone to Bayern either.
